Tawni Lyn Blymiller is facing a charge of child abandonment, after she reportedly left her baby out in the cold in South Salt Lake.
A neighbor brought the child inside after it had been in the freezing temperatures for more than 30 minutes.
The neighbors and police attempted to contact the parents of the child several times at the apartment, but no one answered. In the meantime, the baby began showing a fever and was transported to Primary Children's Hospital.
When they reached Blymiller, she claimed she had arranged through text messages that the child's father would babysit. When asked to show evidence, Blymiller reportedly changed her story to say the drop-off arrangements were conducted over the phone, according to the affidavit.
“Tawni also reported that she had shown up with the baby, had an argument through the door with the father, and eventually was told that he wouldn’t open the door and take the baby until she was gone,” the affidavit states.
Neighbors, however, told police they did not hear an argument that day.
