Police allege that a borough man punched a 5-year-old after assaulting the boy’s mother.
Borough police report that an assault victim walked into the police station about 4 a.m. Feb. 17 and accused Justen R. Wadleigh of just assaulting and strangling her inside his home, according to court records.
Police said the victim described Wadleigh as her “on-off boyfriend.” Officers said her right eye was bruised, swollen and bloodshot and that she was bruised on the right side of her face. Police said she also had bruises on her neck.
Court records indicate that the victim told police that she also had a severe headache from Wadleigh allegedly “banging her head on the floor.” Her 5-year-old son told police that Wadleigh allegedly pulled him off a bed by his leg and “uppercutted him” as he laid on the floor.
Authorities charged Wadleigh with strangulation, child endangerment, simple assault and harassment. District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez arraigned the 41-year-old, setting bail at $25,000 with a 10 percent cash option. He was released from custody after a family member posted $2,500 cash bail.
