The man who pleaded guilty in connection with the beating death of a toddler will spend 15 years in state prison.

Thomas Rose II, 36, received that sentence in Jefferson County Court Monday morning.

Rose pleaded guilty to manslaughter in February in connection with the beating death of 2-year-old Aurora Wiles, who died in December of 2024.
According to the indictment, Rose allegedly caused the child’s death by repeatedly striking her in the abdomen, causing tearing and internal bleeding.

In addition to the 15-year sentence, Rose will receive 5 years of post-release supervision.

Sarah Waterman was placed on one-year interim probation and will be sentenced on Oct. 6th 2026.
