A Pineville man was arrested on a second-degree murder charge last week after a 3-month-old with injuries "consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome" brought into a hospital earlier in the month died, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.
"Upon arrival, deputies were met by a representative of the Department of Children and Family Services who reported that a 3-month old infant was currently hospitalized with injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome," it reads.
Deputies took a report that detectives then began investigating. While still at the hospital, the baby's mother and her boyfriend were detained for more questioning. After that, detectives arrested both of them and booked them into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1.
Both the mother, 23-year-old Jyrionne Meshaun Crosby, and boyfriend, 20-year-old Adrian Christopher-Tobias Augustine, were booked on second-degree cruelty to juveniles.
The baby later died, and detectives arrested Augustine on May 16 on a charge of second-degree murder.
