A former midwife who wrote a blog about her daughter's failing health will stand trial for allegedly injecting urine into the nine-year-old's jugular vein.
The 44-year-old woman, who is from the Hunter Valley, will appear in the NSW District Court in Newcastle on Thursday to face the charges of using poison to inflict grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, according to
News.com.au.
Doctors alerted police to the woman in 2015 when the young girl was admitted to hospital with renal failure.
Yeast and fungus was found growing in the child's drip, prompting police to search the woman, according to the publication.
Officers allegedly discovered urine samples, syringes and laxatives in her purse.
Her blog, which drew attention worldwide, focused around the girl's poor health. It has since been removed, News.com.au said.
