A Bremerton mother accused of inflicting "severe and horrible trauma" on both of her infant twin sons has been arrested.
The investigation began in May when the mother, Baylen Symmone Davis, brought the twins to a hospital because one of them had a swollen right leg, according to Det. Cpl. Beau Ayers with Bremerton Police.
Doctors determined the baby had suffered a broken leg by "non-accidental trauma" and transferred the twin to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma for additional treatment. There, doctors discovered the baby also had 11 broken ribs and a fractured clavicle, Ayers said.
While at Mary Bridge, the mother told doctors her other baby had a swollen left leg. Doctors examined that child to discover the infant also had a broken leg, five rib fractures, both clavicles broken and a torn membrane beneath the tongue.
Both babies were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services, Ayers said.
Ayers said doctors at Mary Bridge noted the mother never showed any emotion or concern about her babies having "horrific broken bone injuries, and no emotion about the babies being placed with CPS."
Davis and her mother reportedly insisted the injuries were a result of bone fragility, according to documents, though detectives wrote doctors ruled that out.
Her husband, who like her is in the Navy, has had minimal solo contact with them.
