A man who has dubbed himself the Sexy Vegan – and even changed his legal name – has taken the notion of puppy love a bit too far, according to charges filed against him in Los Angeles.

Hansel DeBartolo III, 37, who has legally changed his name to Sexy Vegan, was charged with sexually assaulting his dog, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

DeBartolo, of West Hollywood, pleaded not guilty after being charged with one misdemeanor count each of sexual assault on an animal and posting obscene matter.

On Sept. 5, “Vegan posted a video on his social media account allegedly depicting inappropriate behavior with a pit bull,” the prosecutors said.

“Detectives found a video on social media of the suspect performing an act of bestiality,” Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Shirley Miller told KHTS-TV. The investigation is still active and ongoing.”

Arrested Thursday, he pleaded not guilty on Friday, with bail set at $35,000. He’s next due in court Oct. 10 and could face a year in county jail, prosecutors said.

Vegan, also known as Hansel DeBartolo III, 37, was immediately sentenced to two years of summary probation and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, as well as a 52-week sex offender program, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
“In addition, the defendant’s dogs which were previously seized will not be returned and he will be prohibited from owning any new animals during his probationary period,” prosecutors said in a written statement
