"A New York man was arrested Tuesday on charges he has been cyberstalking a Maryland woman for months, making threats that included soliciting people online to rape, kill and decapitate her in exchange for Bitcoin, federal authorities said.

Desmond Babloo Singh, 19, also “swatted” the woman, summoning police to her family's Baltimore County home by emailing a bogus bomb threat, a U. S. Department of Homeland Security special agent said in a court filing.

The woman, who isn't named in the document, lives with her family in Maryland when she isn't attending an unidentified college in New York. She was a friend of Singh's older sister in middle school for one year before his family moved to Texas and has never met Singh in person, the agent said.

Since April, Singh allegedly has used more than 100 different social media, electronic communication and phone accounts to send harassing and unsolicited messages to the woman.

“These messages include express and implied threats of death and bodily injury, sexualized violence, and racial slurs,” the agent wrote."

Desmond Babloo Singh, 20, was sentenced to serve 18 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to an elaborate cyberstalking and harassment campaign that targeted a Maryland woman and her friend.

Singh knew of the victim because his older brother went to middle school with the victim in Maryland. He never met the victim and his family moved to Texas. The woman and Singh exchanged a few messages online from 2014 to 2020, but they were not close friends.

Prosecutors said Singh started the harassment campaign on Valentine's Day of 2020 when the Maryland woman rebuffed his romantic advances online. She asked Singh not to contact her anymore.

Prosecutors said Singh then went on to create more than 100 social media accounts to harass the victim and her family. Singh posted threatening photos, insulted the victim's appearance and publicized her personal information, known as "doxing." The harassment lasted until November 2020, prosecutors said.

At one point the victim applied for a restraining order, which prompted Singh to allegedly text the victim: “You think I’m kidding I’m genuinely never going to stop, its going to be really funny”

Prosecutors said Sigh also harassed one of the woman's friends, who he viewed as a romantic rival. Investigators found evidence that Singh planned to continue the harassment in real life. He threatened physical harm and planned to take picture of the woman.
