WACO, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) – A 33-year-old man in Texas is facing charges after police say he impregnated a child.

According to an arrest affidavit, Zachary Suarez, 33, was arrested Tuesday. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The alleged crime happened in 2023 when Suarez was 30. The victim, who is now 14, was just 12 at the time.

Officials said on May 31, 2023, the then-12-year-old girl was receiving treatment at a hospital and learned she was six weeks pregnant.

According to a police detective, the victim would not reveal the name of the father during interviews with investigators.

But months later, when the girl gave birth to the baby, detectives took DNA samples from the newborn.

The swabs were submitted for DNA analysis and a “CODIS hit was received for DNA submitted matching [Suarez’s] DNA,” the detective wrote in the affidavit.

Detectives tracked down Suarez, and a search warrant was granted for a sample of Suarez’s DNA. The sample was submitted to verify the match, police said.

yea ugly inside and outside........ that poor little girl ... makes me wonder how he had access to her.... and how old she was when he started raping her ... she must have just turned 12 when she found out she was pregnant he was 30 at the time and as of the date of the article he is now 33 while she was 12 and now only 14... why wasn't the baby terminated as it was only a 6 weeks fetus?? if she was my child i don't think i would let her have had the baby or even the dr. letting her know she was pregnant but would have demanded an abortion and passed it as part of the treatment she was in the hospital for... no 12 y.o. should be made to have a baby they are still babies themselves... but later on when she was old enough i would have told her about it but not while in her early teens as that is the "rebelious" age and the decision i had to make for her and why i chose at the time to do it that way...
