A grand jury in Ohio has indicted Eric K. Williams for setting a kitten on fire.

Williams told police that the kitten was playing with his pitbull, which frustrated him, but denied setting it on fire.

He was indicted for knowingly causing serious physical harm to a companion animal and knowingly creating a substantial risk of physical harm to the property of another.

A person reported that he poured gasoline on the kitten and set it on fore for following him around.

The kitten is recovering at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton they released a statement:

The kitten is continuing to receive round-the-clock care from our veterinary team and we are currently discussing a long-term treatment plan as the kitten’s injuries were extremely severe.

He is a MONSTER If he can do this to a beautiful helpless kitten whose only fault was for some reason taking a liking to this asshat which was why this poor kitty followed him around then he will do anything to any animal or person-anything vulnerable. I can guarantee you he had a pitbull dog not because he loves the breed, or because he rescued it but because he likes the idea of it. Likes the reputation it has gotten and the intimidation factor. His dog with it's nasty rep as a breed was even nice to that cat. I had one, a rescue (already an older dog when I got my Sasha girl) and I had to keep all cats away from her-she would attack them, so this guys dog even did not mean any ill will towards this poor cat-only him. And who watched him pour gasoline on it? Who put the fire out? Who thankfully got this kitty the medical care? The pain must be unbearable, this kitty looks just like my Teddy Bear, how can you like into those blue eyes and not want to do anything more then pet and love on it?! He should never be allowed to own pets and if we could bar him from having kids too I would be on board-his violent criminal career is not over I'm afraid.

For a start he needs to be financially responsible for ALL of the Kiittens care. He should never be allowed to have or be living with or close to another . I sure hope he does some prison time too! He is demented!

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has provided an update on a kitten set on fire in July.
The kitten, named “Joffrey” by the humane society has received intensive treatment for his burn wounds including specialized care from the Ohio State University Veterinary Center.
In the latest update, the humane society said that his spirit remains “unbroken” and his wounds are on the mend.

“He’s a purring, cuddle-loving machine who thrives on affection from his medical team,” the shelter said in a social media post.

The fire caused severe burns to Joffrey’s ears which were unable to be saved and had to be removed.

Joffrey’s hearing was not affected by this.
The shelter said they hope to have Joffrey back in Dayton in the next couple of weeks.

what a beautiful sweet baby with the watery blue eyes! My heart BREAKS-he looks just like my Teddy Bear (name of my cat). It took me nearly a year to get my Teddy Bear to even let me touch him, I found him outside in my yard-he was maybe 7mos at the time and totally "wild"-I am so happy to say he is now strictly an indoor kitty who is over the top sweet,, who LOVES belly rubs, and a purring machine. Except that is ONLY with me, he runs and hides he second he hears anyone else in the house that may possibly (in his mind) come into the room he and I are in. He's a chicken. But he came to the right home to be cared and loved and that is exactly what I wish for this sweet resilient little fur angel!!!! My best to you Joffrey!

Get your tissues ready, we have a wonderful update to share on Joffrey!

Less than a day after returning back to Dayton, a truly heartwarming moment happened when a registered veterinary technician, one of the first to treat Joffrey at the emergency facility he was taken to by police, visited to check on his progress. Moved by his resilience and eager to give him the love he deserved, she filled out an adoption application. She understands the challenges he faces ahead of him, but is determined to provide him with the ongoing care and affection he needs to thrive. That's right, Joffrey has found a new forever home!

As Joffrey embarks on this new chapter of his life with his new family, we are filled with excitement for all the wonderful moments ahead. Thank you, Joffrey, for touching our hearts and showing us all the true meaning of bravery and love.

We also want to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to every single person that supported him and gave him the encouragement and love he needed to get through this horrific situation. Our community here in Dayton is so amazing and we are just so beyond grateful to be surrounded by so many animal lovers. We like to think that

Joffrey's journey is a powerful reminder of resilience—the bond between animals and humans, and the unwavering spirit of love. His story has inspired us all with hope, demonstrating that even in the darkest of times, compassion can shine through.
