A father is being charged after police said they found his children and a dog living in deplorable conditions.

Police went to Justin Doran's home in Brighton Heights Monday morning to arrest him on a warrant.

But he's in more trouble after officers said they found no running water in the house, no food and no sheets on the beds for the children.

Police said they also found a starving dog confined to a room filled with feces.

Animal control took the dog away, and Doran's children are with relatives.

People who are neglecting their children will have no problem starving a dog. I mean, it's dumb animal, isn't it. o_O

Even if dogs were dumb animals, I don't believe they are, there's no reason to starve him. Why not just give him up to the humane society? It's not the same as giving up your children, but they should have done that too.

If this stupid MF will neglect kids and a dog, he will do more if given the opportunity I bet. Good thing that this particular situation did not go any further or this would be a very different article and discussion

Back in the day I had a neighbor like that. The dog, Boston, was a cute little fella but they lost interest and just stopped taking care of him altogether. I talked to her about it a bit and she said she knew they needed to give him more attention. I told her I thought he'd be happy if they just fed and gave him water. I can't remember what lame reply I got. My husband wouldn't let me feed the dog (what an asshole!), so I called animal control. When the officer came out I showed her the situation, told her the owners weren't home but that they didn't care at all so she went ahead and took him. I hope he was adopted, but he was probably euthanized. If so, it was faster than starving to death at least.
