President Demented and his cock sucking VP are among Democrats who are being widely mocked for their silence in the wake of Jussie Smollett’s guilty verdict — after initially throwing their support behind the embattled actor.

Biden and Harris’ old tweets — including one in which the veep described the attack as a “modern day lynching” — resurfaced after the “Empire” star was convicted Thursday of staging an elaborate hate crime against himself and filing a false police report.

Immediately after Smollett claimed in 2019 that two Trump-loving bigots beat him up and tied a noose around his neck, Biden — who had yet to announce his bid for president — declared he was standing with the actor.

“What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie,” Biden tweeted in January 2019.

Harris, meanwhile, branded the ordeal a “modern day lynching.”

“@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate,” Harris tweeted at the time.

US Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) echoed Harris’ comments, tweeting: “The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I’m glad he’s safe. To those in Congress who don’t feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime — I urge you to pay attention.”

They were joined by a string of other liberal politicians, including “Squad” members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).

“There is no such thing as ‘racially charged.’ This attack was not ‘possibly’ homophobic. It was a racist and homophobic attack. If you don’t like what is happening to our country, then work to change it. It is no one’s job to water down or sugar-coat the rise of hate crimes,” AOC tweeted in January 2019 with a link to a news article about Smollett.

Tlaib tweeted the same day: “The dangerous lies spewing from the right wing is killing & hurting our people. Thinking of you @JussieSmollett, and my LGBTQ neighbors.”

he tweets, which are still up, started circulating again after Smollett’s guilty verdict was handed down as conservatives called on Biden, Harris and their colleagues to issue retractions.

“Joe Biden defended Jussie Smollett. Kamala Harris defended Jussie Smollett. Bernie Sanders defended Jussie Smollett. Elizabeth Warren defended Jussie Smollett. Those who defend a fraud are frauds themselves,” tweeted Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow died in the 2018 slaughter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted: “Kyle Rittenhouse, Jussie Smollett … Biden never misses an opportunity to play politics and prejudge cases before he has all the facts.”
Donald Trump Jr. also weighed in, sarcastically tweeting that Smollett got the justice he had been seeking.

“I’m just happy to live in a country where people will go to jail for attacking a gay black man… There’s absolutely no place for that s—t in America, or anywhere else, and I am happy the perpetrator was brought to justice,” he tweeted.

Don Lemon brands pal Jussie Smollet a liar

Don Lemon branded his pal Jussie Smollett a liar just hours after the actor was convicted of staging a hate crime against himself on Thursday — but the CNN host still failed to address his own role in the made-for-TV drama.

Lemon discussed the “Empire” star’s guilty verdict on his show Thursday night during a brief segment with legal analyst Joey Jackson.

The CNN host said Smollett “had to make up too many lies” in an attempt to explain his false narrative that two Trump-loving bigots beat him up and tied a noose around his neck in Chicago in 2019.

“I guess he got caught up in that because he took the stand himself. He got angry with the prosecutor as the prosecutor poked holes in his story, calling the only other witnesses liars,” Lemon said of the high-profile trial.

The below is a statement from Dr. Melina Abdullah, Director of BLM Grassroots and Co-Founder of BLM Los Angeles, regarding the ongoing trial of Jussie Smollett:

As abolitionists, we approach situations of injustice with love and align ourselves with our community. Because we got us. So let’s be clear: we love everybody in our community. It’s not about a trial or a verdict decided in a white supremacist charade, it’s about how we treat our community when corrupt systems are working to devalue their lives. In an abolitionist society, this trial would not be taking place, and our communities would not have to fight and suffer to prove our worth. Instead, we find ourselves, once again, being forced to put our lives and our value in the hands of judges and juries operating in a system that is designed to oppress us, while continuing to face a corrupt and violent police department, which has proven time and again to have no respect for our lives.

In our commitment to abolition, we can never believe police, especially the Chicago Police Department (CPD) over Jussie Smollett, a Black man who has been courageously present, visible, and vocal in the struggle for Black freedom. While policing at-large is an irredeemable institution, CPD is notorious for its long and deep history of corruption, racism, and brutality. From the murders of Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, to the Burge tortures, to the murder of Laquan McDonald and subsequent cover-up, to the hundreds of others killed by Chicago police over the years and the thousands who survived abuse, Chicago police consistently demonstrate that they are among the worst of the worst. Police lie and Chicago police lie especially.

Black Lives Matter will continue to work towards the abolition of police and every unjust system. We will continue to love and protect one another, and wrap our arms around those who do the work to usher in Black freedom and, by extension, freedom for everyone else.

People forget that a lot of people were upset, because Jussie had just had a real hate letter sent to the producers of Empire. So they thought this “attack” was a continuation of that harassment he had actually suffered. The only person that should be mocked is Jussie and the two fools that thought they could get away with this.

Nah. Going to have to disagree with you on this. Anyone who jumps on a train without knowing its destination is worthy of me laughing at them as they go over the edge of a very high cliff.

After over a decade of this site, and the news in general, how anyone has not learned that the best way to not look like a jackass in the future is to not publicly state your opinion on events like this until ALL the facts have come in, is beyond me.

@Nell - I thought it was generally accepted that he sent the hate mail too? I could be totally off base, but that's what I remember. :blackeye:

Nah. First thing was real. He didn’t like his studios reaction to it. He thought they didn’t take it seriously enough, so he decided to ramp it up.

Prosecution claims Jussie Smollett faked hate crime after receiving real hate letter

More than two years after actor Jussie Smollett was accused of faking a hate crime against himself, both the prosecution and defense focused on the credibility of the brothers who claimed they were paid by Smollett to carry out the attack.

Notice how if you think the African American is lying you are a racist but if you think the Africans are lying you are not. Kind of funny how that works, right?

Experts say Jussie Smollett is in ‘matrix of arrogance’ as he awaits sentencing

CHICAGO — Jussie Smollett left the Leighton Criminal Court building Thursday looking as stoic and defiant as ever, despite being found guilty of staging a fake hate crime three years ago.

When Smollett is sentenced next month, prosecutors said they plan to emphasize his bizarre turn on the witness stand, in which he lied for “hours and hours and hours” about how two Trump-loving bigots beat him up, tied a noose around his neck and doused him in bleach.

Experts say that stubbornness is among the textbook signs of narcissistic personality disorder that Smollett seems to exhibit — and which may have been exacerbated by growing up in an unusual family bubble.

“When someone launches something like this, there’s a grandiose assumption they’ll be able to get away with it,” Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a clinical psychologist and expert on narcissism, told The Post. “Then it slides into something delusional and the delusion becomes the truth and it becomes the truth he lives in. It becomes his reality.”

While many watching the case wondered why Smollett didn’t just cut his losses early on, Durvasula said it doesn’t work that way with narcissists.

Juror in Jussie Smollett’s trial says they were doing him ‘a favor’ by not convicting him on 6th count

A juror in Jussie Smollett’s trial explained that they believed they were doing the former "Empire" star a "favor" by convicting him on all but one of the charges against him.

Last week, Smollett was found guilty on five out of six charges at his hate crime hoax trial. After a contentious week of witness testimony, counsel arguments and deliberation, the jury found Smollett had indeed lied to police when he said he did not work with two siblings who worked on "Empire" to stage the attack on himself as a hate crime.

According to a female juror who spoke anonymously with The Chicago-Sun Times, the biggest point of contention among the jury had to do with why the sixth count was different from the other five. She explained that count had to do with a second interview about the incident that Smollett did with detectives on Feb. 14, 2019 when he reported that he was the victim of an aggravated battery. Meanwhile, the other five counts were specifically about whether or not he lied about a hate crime.

"We all thought we were doing Jussie a favor," the juror said.

Sole black juror says Jussie Smollett’s noose claim ‘didn’t add up’

The sole black member of the jury that convicted Jussie Smollett of lying about an alleged hate crime said the “Empire” actor’s claims “didn’t add up.”

Juror Andre Hope spoke out about the closely watched case, suggesting Smollett’s story that he was beaten up by two Trump-loving bigots who tied a noose around his neck and doused him in bleach was too elaborate to believe.

“When you just use your common sense as what’s there, yeah it just, it didn’t add up,” Hope, 63, told WLS-TV.

“I still have not figured out a motive for why he did, why this had to even happen. He was a star,” he added.

Hope also questioned why the “Empire” actor would put the noose back on before police arrived at his apartment to take his report.

“As an African American person, I’m not putting that noose back on at all,” he said.

So many things didn't add up here. I remember early on reading that the Subway sandwich was miraculously unharmed and then I never heard about his sandwich ever again... until the jury and one of the investigating cops said that was part of what didn't add up for them. The noose thing was another one that just sat badly for me. Glad I wasn't alone! :blackeye: <--- that's Jussie for me!
