At approximately 3:40 a.m. on Nov. 7, Phoenix police responded to a 911 call from 47-year-old Jeffrey Rael. He allegedly told dispatchers that he killed his girlfriend, the Phoenix Police Department said in a news release Nov. 8.

Arizona’s Family reports he allegedly told dispatchers he “had to kill her because she was possessed.”
Officers arriving at the home found Rael’s longtime girlfriend, Paxton Wallace, 31, suffering from multiple wounds consistent with a “sharp bladed instrument,” the release said. Wallace was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered a blood-soaked chain saw from the kitchen and said the victim was unrecognizable, according to court documents obtained by Arizona’s Family.

AOL.com reports Rael was allegedly armed with a hammer and cross when police arrived. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on a first-degree murder charge.
Rael has a criminal history, Arizona’s Family reports. According to relatives, Wallace had been trying to end the relationship with Rael.
