Jayme McArthur, 30, had been drinking at a Georgetown winery on Saturday fell and caused her baby to be thrown out of a stroller and onto the street, and later almost dropped the 8-month-old girl while talking to police, according to an arrest affidavit.
A couple walking in downtown Georgetown on the historic square called police at 8:05 p.m. Saturday after seeing a woman, later identified as McArthur, fall over while going down some sidewalk steps with a stroller near the Grape Creek Winery, the affidavit said.
The couple saw the stroller also fall and the baby was ejected onto the street, according to the affidavit. It said the couple helped McArthur and the baby while calling police. When an officer arrived, McArthur was sitting next to a building with the baby in her lap, the affidavit said. The baby had no visible injuries but had dirt on her hair and clothing, police said.
When police asked McArthur what happened with her baby, she said nothing had happened and that she was trying to go to Killeen, the affidavit said. It said that while she was talking with an officer, she allowed the baby to slip from her grasp to the point where she was holding the baby by the head.
