An OCSO Facebook post said 20-year-old Kevin Mauricio Escobar Munoz was arrested on July 17 and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail.
OCSO officials said the14-year-old victim told investigators that she woke up to a man she did not know covering her mouth with his hand and sexually assaulting her in her Fort Walton Beach home around 7 a.m. on April 21.

An exam of the girl found she was sexually assaulted, and on July 11, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was able to match the DNA from the sexual assault kit to Escobar Munoz, according to the OCSO.

Escobar Munoz was also charged with burglary with battery for forcing entry into the victim’s home. OCSO officials said he lived within 1 mile of the victim’s home.

This illegal is from Honduras and was previously deported in 2022.

“And was labeled as ‘deny entry’ classification. To be honest with you the cell phone that we seized as evidence -- was probably one that was given to him by our government at the border. And then secondly if there was such a thing as an accessory before the fact maybe Alejandro Mayorkas needs to be looked at,” said Sheriff Aden.

Do they have his DNA because of a previous sexual assault?

24-year-old Jose Chan from Guatemala was arrested June 26th for same charge on a 14-year-old girl in Okaloosa County. This crime happening on February 25th. Sheriff Aden says -- just 16 days earlier Chan too had been deported -- only to illegally cross the border and return to Okaloosa County.
"The girl disclosed the abuse to family members who took her to HCA Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital," the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said in a release. The incident happened on Feb. 25, 2023, at the girl's home.
“It’s just frustrating. It’s frustrating to see this play out -- right here in Northwest Florida,” said Aden.

While the problem at the U.S. southern border didn’t happen overnight and has become a major issue in the presidential election -- Sheriff Aden points out these are just two cases of many that he believes could have been avoided.
“There’s a pathway to citizenship. And I understand it’s an arduous process... But many people do it. They do it the right way. They become great skilled laborers here... Business owners here. And they’re great American citizens -- and we certainly applaud that. But we have got to stop the border of illegal aliens. We are going to hold them accountable. But if they weren’t here to begin with -- these crimes wouldn’t have been committed by them,” said Sheriff Aden.
