A teenager who has been missing for two and half years has been found alive in a closet of a child pornography suspect in west Germany, police said.

The 15-year old boy was found on Friday during a police search in Recklinghausen.

Police were searching a home of a 44-year old man suspected of distributing child pornography when they stumbled on the boy. “The officers discovered a boy in the closet. An investigation showed this was a 15-year old boy who has been missing for a long time,” the Recklinghausen police said in a statement.

A spokesman for the police told CNN the boy had been missing for two and a half years.

According to the police, there was no indication that the boy was held in the apartment against his will. The boy remains under police protection and has not been identified for legal reasons.

The police spokesperson said the 44-year old man and another older man who was also in the apartment at the time were arrested.

On Saturday, a judge granted a request from the public prosecutor’s office and issued an arrest warrant for a serious sexual offense against the younger of the two men, the police said in another statement. The older man was released from custody.


During the search, a police sniffer dog trained to detect electronic devices found a number of data storage units in the apartment. The equipment is now being investigated, the police said.

Even if the *child* doesn't feel as if he was "held against his will", surely Germany has some statute on the books for "Interfering with child custody", or similar charges, one would at least think... I mean, the kid couldn't have been older than 13 (at most) when he went missing, FFS!

But it is Germany, and IIRC when having lived there, they still had many odd/nonsensical ancient laws still on the books, while ignoring simple common sense protection laws for children, elderly and vulnerable (MH/MR/dementia) adults that most other Western countries/communities have stepped up to the plate and adopted over the last 35+ years.

IE: Here in the US, there is a separate "Bill of Rights" for citizens who're mentally challenged, children and the elderly - the only difference being is that for those of us whom understand every person's rights, and we see a person who may be unable to know/understand their rights, and witness abuses of their rights, we are mandated by law to report it when we see or have knowledge that abuse(s) is/are happening.

I worked for years in group homes and to judge by my experience the boy is likely gay and ran away to join a gay man he had met somewhere. Looking for love. The age of consent in Germany is 14 btw. As to child porno that has an international age of consent regardless of the local age of consent so if he posed for erotic pix - which gay teens often enjoy doing - it would have been illegal since the age for porno models male or female is 18 everywhere. The apartment was raided because of a child porno investigation and that would have been triggered off by his lover posting pix of the boy online for sale. It is not Germans who are stupid, it is Americans since among other things they can't grasp that homosexuality does not begin to manifest itself until 18 or 21 it manifests itself around puberty same as heterosexuality. Here are the known facts: Marvin Konsog, 15, of Duisberg, skipped out of a group home for boys in Recklinghausen on 11/6/17 and was discovered living in Recklinghausen with a 43-year-old man identified only as Lars H. on 12/21/19. His mother is Manuela Bock dob 4-27-66 so she would have been about 40 when Marvin was born. She comes across as a person who is somewhat unstable. God knows she loves press attention. Marvin did not like his foster father and vice versa. It is not "blaming the victim" to suggest the existence of gay teens; I'm not sure you understand what the phrase means. As I mentioned Americans conflate child pornography with juvenile pornography. Child pornography is rare. Juvenile pornography is common. If you conflate the two it results in the false impression that pedophilia is fantastically common but it is actually a fairly rare disorder. Mrs. Bock publicly revealed her son's name in connection with this case which is unusual. The PD are holding Lars H. on charges regarding "a serious sexual offense." Since Marvin was examined at a clinic after the police found him hiding in a closet and assumed custody of him this would mean the clinic found evidence of anal intercourse; fellatio leaves no physical sign. This is not good news for Lars H. since although Germany has a age of consent of 14 their laws on sodomy are complex but compelling in the case of a person under 18: it is not illegal for a gay man to have a relationship with a gay teen and even engage in sexual activity excluding only sodomy. By the way although child and juvenile pornography are conflated everywhere in accord with the international standard of 18 to be legal and not constituting sexual exploitation of a minor, penalties are generally lower for material involving teenagers instead of pre-adolescent children. In other words, it is a lesser offence under case law when the model is a teenager than if the "model" was a child in the usual sense of the term. I read somewhere else that the boy was found wearing the same clothes in which he disappeared.
He should have grown out of them , but maybe it was really baggy clothing, or was he malnourished? Several speculations from that one tidbit.

How do we know this wasn't a sexually abused kid who was groomed and turned to something he already knew and thought he deserved. Ever think he may have willing gone but realized he was way in over his head? I have problems with some of the conclusions drawn on this post. It would nice to hear the facts from the horse's mouth and not just your comparison to some fixation on gay youths and this situation. I didn't know a lot of gay boys in my group homes. The ones who ran didn't care where they ran to and the gay young men who were seeking older men were used to being sexually abused and in away hunting for a father figure.

A German court sentenced a 46-year-old man to indefinite detention for sexually abusing a teenage boy he kept hidden for over two years and who police found in a closet.

A court in Bochum sentenced the accused, identified as Lars H., to nine years in prison followed by preventive detention, after finding him guilty of more than 400 counts of child sex abuse.

Preventive detention is one of the harshest sanctions in Germany's criminal system, designed to keep incarcerated offenders considered too dangerous to release, even after they have served their official sentence.

The victim was 13 years old when he went missing in June 2017 from the youth shelter where he was living at the time.

The court heard that he had met the suspect in an online chatroom and agreed to go to his apartment in the western town of Recklinghausen.

The suspect said he had asked the boy to move in with him and rewarded him with money and cigarettes for sexual favours.

The judge however rejected the accused's claim that it was a consensual relationship. The boy himself gave three days of testimony during the trial.

A court spokesman said the accused had abused the boy on at least 445 occasions, before he was discovered by accident in December 2019 during a police search of the flat on suspicion the accused was distributing child pornography.
