Two Georgia parents have been charged with killing their infant daughter by diluting the breast milk they fed her.

Herbert George Landell, 26, and and Lauren Heather Fristed, 25, of Duluth, Ga., were arrested Wednesday, about a month after they brought their emaciated daughter March 25 to Gwinnett Medical Center. Nevaeh Marie Landell, 10 weeks old, was already dead, according to arrest warrants.

Since Nevaeh was born, Landell and Fristed refused to get their daughter medical treatment, police said.

Landell was charged with felony murder and aggravated battery by depriving; Fristed was charged with aggravated battery by depriving, first degree cruelty to children, and second degree cruelty to children. Neither are eligible for bond and remained Thursday in Gwinnett County Jail here.

Watering down the breast milk caused Nevaeh's electrolyte and sodium levels to drop and made her brain swell, according to the warrants. But the detectives' investigation since Nevaeh's death also revealed unsanitary conditions at the couple's apartment.

Babies should not drink water until they are at least 6 months old, said Dr. Sujatha Reddy, a physician at Premier Care for Women in Atlanta and WXIA-TV medical correspondent. Between 6 and 12 months, babies can drink small amounts of water, but no more than 1 to 3 ounces at a time.

However, because water has no nutritional value, babies should drink breast milk or formula first, she said. Signs of water toxicity include grogginess, confusion, drowsiness, twitching and seizures.

We've seen plenty of dirtbag parents on here who water down their baby's formula so they don't have to spend their valuable drug money --- but what is the point of watering down goddamn breastmilk?!

Is she really that lazy that she can't be bothered to pop out a boob every few hours?!
Or does she pump the 1 day a week she's not all full of drugs & try to make it last the week?

I'm stumped?:shrug:... & pissed!!!:punch:

It's probably safe to assume she was pumping since it was watered down. The baby may have latching issues and mom may not be producing enough. Still no excuse for either a) seeing a lactation consultant or b) supplementing with formula. Even if she didn't qualify for wic I know there's free help for breastfeeding..la leche league or the hospital usually has support groups. There's no excuse for this!
 
how the hell does she not have wic...America has made life pretty damn easy for lazy and irresponsible parents to . CONTINUE laying on their asses while tax payers support their kids..welfare has a program for EVERYTHING..from wic ..to food ..child care . classes.. housing .. from the moment your pregnant till that child is 18 ..the government is right there ..raising that child for you. While your laying your ass on the couch... All you have to do show up to your appts.. And that is probably why this baby died .. Because this pos could not be bothered to get off her ass ...I bet she has food stamps though.. she makes sure her ass is fed OBVIOUSLY..please ..sterilization .... LET'S PUT OUR KIDS FIRST AMERICA..

ETA..I'm not judging anyone who comes into hard times and needs welfare as they are getting back up on there feet. .everyone needs some kind of help at one point or another. I'm judging the ones who make welfare a career..

My kids all had powder formula.. which meant I mixed about 4/5 oz of water with it. I've never heard of water toxicity.... And my kids were all chunky monkeys.. that's kinda a scary..
 
Even if you don't qualify for wic, formula companies are so desperate for customers that they all send you cans upon cans of the stuff anytime you sign up for Any baby related item. I exclusively breastfeed my kids, but after having each of them I was giving away cans of formula that would be mailed to my house.
There is just no excuse for this shit.

All of my kids were given sugar water at the hospital until my milk came in- they even sent extra little bottles of it home with me. No water for six months? Who knew?

No kidding! I bought my preggers BFF a maternity dress last year, and shortly thereafter discovered a parcel containing four full-size cans of various formulations of Enfamil on my doorstep. No excuse!

I saw it once but it was in an adult. I remember the symptoms he complained of and I'm even more pissed off thinking of what this baby was suffering through.

I'd like to know what was so Goddamn important in their waste-of-oxygen lives that they couldn't properly feed their baby? It certainly wasn't her getting her lard-ass back into her pre-pregnancy jeans, or bathing for that matter. And it wasn't cleaning with this little nugget of information:

I honestly think they just say that so horrible shit like this doesn't happen.

Kind of like those warnings on plastic bags that say 'putting this bag over a baby's head is dangerous'-- you think to yourself 'who the fuck needs to be told that?!' Well, these are those people!!

Common sense says a little water here & there is prob not going to hurt a baby-- but feeding a newborn baby water instead of formula/breastmilk is obviously dangerous & could be deadly!

"She thought that was the right thing to do," said the family friend. "She had no idea how to raise a child."

Okay, so they didn't get her medical treatment because it was against their "religion" but was feeding her and actually cleaning against their "religion" too or was that just because they were nasty fucks?

-Parents were devout Christians- which they expressed in their FB accts.
-They believed in prayer over all else even food, medical attn., & pure milk
-Police officers collected money to buy a burial plot for little Neveah & attended her service
-Police conducted month long investigation, still puzzled & shaken by baby's death
-Parents were married in 2013, this was their only child
-Father entered the ER with towel under his arm, handed it to nurse & said 'she's not breathing'
-Baby was already stiff & cold
-Baby weighed only 6lbs- approx 1 lb LESS than at birth!

Just WTF! There should be nothing in this world to make a 10 week old baby look that sad. I'd like to wipe that smile right off of the egg donor's face :punch: for failing to see that this baby was in so much pain and not thriving.
 
OMG - that photo where you can see the wee one's legs!!!!! Like little matchsticks!! Poor thing. My heart is so sad for her and what she went through.
 
They sure believed in sustenance for themselves!! These stories of babies being starved just kills me. I was very poor when my kids were little. I had WIC and that was over 30 yrs ago. I know its still available. This little girl didn't stand a chance with these two for parents

I just want to add....I respect folks choices to breastfeed. But if breastfeeding isn't working out...for whatever reason or isn't enough they should have substituted formula. What parent wouldn't have sought medical care for a newborn not gaining weight??!! They flat out killed her.
 
That's horrible. Their child was starving in front of their eyes, while they probably gorged on Subway. (Healthier than Mickey D's, right?) Gluttonous bastards, I hope they starve to death!

I wonder if these parents are also mentally deficient? Obviously yes, but I mean certified. Is there some other contributing factor to their complete inability to comprehend that they needed to DO SOMETHING?! Because it is so mind boggling that they let the poor thing die. I'm going to go watch the Derby and do some needlework, something to distract my mind from those sad photos.

I don't care if some of these human failures were studied by Hippocrates, Dr. Henry Gray, Dr. Virginia Apgar, Dr. Phil and Sigmund Freud themselves, we'll never have the real answers as to why some of these "people" do what they do... :(
