Lela Danielle Moore, 24, of Jacksonville is charged with negligent child abuse inflicting serious injury in the April 21 incident, according to her arrest warrant. Moore was arrested in Jacksonville on June 11, police records show.
Moore is accused of leaving her 6-month-old unsupervised in Garner while she went outside to smoke marijuana, the warrant states. The baby subsequently sustained a skull fracture and severe facial bruising, according to the warrant. It's not clear if police believe the child fell, and The News & Observer was unable to immediately reach Garner police Friday morning.
Moore remained in the Wake County jail with bail set at $30,000 secured. Upon her release, she may not have contact with her child, according to the release order.
