A child in Ethiopia has died following a brutal attack at the claws of an rogue eagle, attacking residents in the district of Gaashaamo.
Families in the region have been experiencing regular attacks all believed to have come from one particular bird.
Two other children have been left injured after similar attacks were visited upon them.
It is currently unclear whether the child who died lost his life during the attack or after as a result of his injuries
A mother of one of the injured children, Muno Shuayb, was in her house when she heard her son screaming.
Speaking to the BBC, She said: 'We rushed outside the house. I saw it holding my son on the ground and biting him. He was crying 'mother…mother!'. I ran to him and threw a stick at the bird.'
Muno's actions may have saved her sons life, as the recent attacks have become so savage that police are now actively hunting the bird, having been given a shoot to kill order.
It is unknown why the bird of prey appears to have begun targetting children, however eagles have been known to mistake children for prey in the past.
