Officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to respond to calls of an unresponsive child.
Authorities said the young child was taken to the hospital but died despite extensive life-saving efforts made by officers and medical personnel.
According to police, the child’s father, 37-year-old Jose Hernandez, left the toddler in the car for a long time in front of their home, officials said.
