One of four people who seriously injured a school teacher in a Golden home invasion, after they’d entered the wrong home, was sentenced Friday to 42 years in prison.
Caleb Williams, 21, was sentenced in Jefferson County District Court on multiple charges after pleading guilty in January.
Williams was sentenced to 23 years for first-degree assault, 13 years for first-degree burglary, and six years for attempted aggravated robbery, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Cody Jones, 20, pleaded guilty in December. He was sentenced in February to 45 years in prison.
Tyler Gorringe, 18, pleaded guilty on Dec. 15 to first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and attempted robbery. He was 17 at the time of the attack, but was charged as an adult.
The fourth co-defendant, 19-year-old Julia Johnson, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to being an accessory to burglary. Authorities say she was driving a car used by the suspects the night of the May 16 attack.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on March 16 and Gorringe on April 28.
Jesse Swift, a middle school teacher, was stabbed and severely injured in the incident. His wife Jessica, also a school teacher, and their two small children were home when the home invasion occurred. Jessica phoned 911 for help. She and the children were not harmed.
