66-year-old Dr. Phillip R. Dilts' wife caught him having sex with a horse.

When his wife caught him behind the horse he threatened to unalive himself by shooting.

Dilts' assaulted his wife when she tried to stop him from going into the basement where there was a gun.

He is also alleged to have assaulted his daughter when she attempted to intervene.

One of the officers on scene reported noticing that Dilts' daughter had scrape marks on her hands and that Dr. Dilts had been drinking vodka that night. Dilts's wife also had red marks around her neck after Dr. Dilts choked her, court documents allege.
After speaking with Dilts' daughter, deputies detained Dilts and questioned him about the incident. Deputies allege that Dilts told them that he did not have sex with the horse but that he was about to do so.

Dilts in an interview stated he and his wife are divorcing and the beastiality accusation is retaliatory.

“We had a sick horse, and I was waiting for it to eat its oats,” he said. “I was standing behind it, and I took it by the tail and was turning it when my wife looked through an opening in the barn.”
The Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board voted unanimously in an emergency teleconference on Tuesday to suspend Dilts' license effective immediately, according to state records.

A Fredericktown veterinarian was sentenced to two years of community control Monday after pleading no contest to two domestic violence convictions.
Dr. Phillip R. Dilts, 66, was sentenced in Mount Vernon Municipal Court. As part of a plea agreement, the charge against Dilts for engaging in sexual activity with an animal was dismissed.

Dilts also was sentenced to 180 days in jail on each count of domestic violence with 150 days suspended. In addition, he was ordered to pay $300 in fines.
As part of his sentence, Dilts must comply with all terms and conditions of probation, not violate any laws, complete IOP; GPS monitor for the next 120 days; and have no contact with the alleged victims.

Dilts must complete counseling through Hands Down and undergo drug and alcohol screening.

In April, Dilts entered a not-guilty plea to misdemeanor charges, which included allegations he had sexual conduct with a Shetland Pony and later injured two people.

During a phone interview, Dilts said the allegations regarding the horse are not true and result from a divorce he and his wife are going through.

Soooo...he basically got away with domestic violence and DID get away with raping a horse, a sick horse. If it weren't for the fact that she would have gotten prison time, I'd wish the wife had shot him.
Was the horse a patient he was caring for? I'm not sure how it is everywhere, but when I was a really little girl my mom dated a woman whose brother in law was a small town vet and he would occasionally take sick farm animals home to his ranch home to kind of rehab them. Was it like that? Or their own sick horse?
Not that it would matter to the horse, but can you imagine being the owner if it wasn't his? And if it was his, I guarantee this wasn't the first time.
