I'll make this short and simple. It's the small businesses that are hurting, because they can't pay as much, so they can't lure prospective employees away from the fairly cushy unemployment benefits that may be as high as $700 per week (close to $17/hr). When they do manage to reel in an applicant, it's because the applicant's unemployment benefits are about to run out. It's a bit of a Catch-22 situation. With some schools still closed to in-person learning, parents have no choice except to have one parents stay home with the kids.

I have a friend who works for a water company - offering $20 an hour to start, no experienceneeded, they will pay for the training you need and the license you need. After 3 months raise, matched 401k, full benefits. In 3 weeks of the job being posted he had 1 applicant - and a bunch of bots.... It is crazy

I know plenty of college grads here turning down 70k a year work from home jobs
They’re getting about about 18k unemployment and almost 16k tax free government money, they live at home, only have car payment, they figure they can get the same job when the freebies are over
The current administration people saying the free money isn’t the reason people aren’t going back to work are so full of shit I can smell them from here
