A woman has been convicted in Summit County for her role in the rape and abuse of an 11-month-old infant in a case that also resulted in a life prison sentence for the child’s father.

Jamilee Hunt, 38, was found guilty by a jury on charges including rape of a child under 13, five counts of felonious assault, and multiple child endangerment charges.

Her conviction follows last week’s sentencing of co-defendant Jason Santos, 38, who pleaded guilty to related charges and was sentenced to life in prison. Santos will be eligible for parole after serving between 55 and 59 years.
The case stems from a November 2024 investigation at a Red Roof Inn in Springfield Township, where police found the infant unresponsive and suffering from severe abuse.
Investigators said Hunt initially used a false identity during the investigation and later provided explanations for the child’s injuries that did not match medical findings.

Medical evaluations found the infant had multiple fractures in various stages of healing, traumatic brain injuries, internal bleeding, and evidence of sexual assault.
Prosecutors said the child survived and is continuing to recover with a guardian.

In November 2024, police responded to the motel after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant. The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered multiple healing fractures to the baby’s ribs, arms, and legs, a broken clavicle, traumatic brain injury, internal bleeding, and evidence of rape.
The woman claimed she had to go and find her lost dog but never returned to the scene and turned off her phone. After being located and detained, she and the child's father claimed the infant’s injuries were caused by their dog jumping on her, an explanation that differed from their initial statements and was inconsistent with medical findings.
Investigators later determined that the woman had also given a false identity.
