Police say a baby delivered over the weekend after her
mother was shot at a South Austin apartment complex has died.
The shooting happened Saturday at around 10 p.m. at The Arts Apartment complex.
The Austin Police Department says 911 received calls of shots fired at The Arts Apartment complex.. Office and EMS medics responded and located a pregnant adult female with gunshot wounds. APD says civilian witnesses provided first aid until officers and paramedics arrived.
APD says the home invasion was drug related.
The woman was transported to St. David's South Austin Medical Center in critical condition. The baby was delivered and later transferred to Dell Children's Medical Center -- where she died on Sunday.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide. The baby has been identified as Emery Guardiola.
