Found Amber Alert For 9yo Carly Marie Trent Taken From School By Her Uncle, Gary Simpson

The TBI said in a tweet Thursday morning, "We're escalating our efforts to find this missing child and have just issued an #AMBERAlert."

Trent is believed to be with her uncle Gary Simpson, who pulled her from class Wednesday under false pretenses. Simpson does not have custody of Trent.

Steve Starnes, Director of Schools for Hawkins County, said that Simpson was designated in writing as having the authority to pick up Callie from school, and that he'd picked here up before.

"The school secretary checked the child's emergency card and verified that Mr. Simpson had permission to sign the child out from school," said Starnes in a statement. "Additionally, documentation on file at the school listed Mr. Simpson as a legal guardian."

The TBI believes Trent and Simpson could be in a white Dodge van with the Tennessee license plate 173GPS.

Anyone with information on Trent's whereabouts is asked to call the TBI at 1(800)TBI-FIND.

On Wednesday, authorities issued an endangered child alert to try to find Trent, which has now been upgraded.

Original Story on May 4, 2016: Police are looking for a 9-year-old Rogersville girl who they say was taken out of school and disappeared with her uncle, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Officials said Carlie Trent’s uncle by marriage, Gary Simpson, pulled her from class Wednesday under false pretenses. He does not have custody of Trent.

Trent is 4’8” and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black and gray tank top with blue jeans, according to a TBI release.

Simpson is 57, and has balding brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown cap, dark colored shirt and jeans.

According to the TBI, Simpson was last seen driving a white 2002 Dodge Conversion Van with Tennessee registration 173GPS. The van has a dark stripe down the middle with light gold running boards and chipping paint on the hood.

No word on where they might be.

Officials ask anyone that has seen the child, subject or van to call Rogersville Police Department at 423-272-7555 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

This man was a trusted family member and often assisted Carlie's father with Carlie and her sister. He was authorized to pick her up from school, and had done this on occasion for an appointment etc. when her father was working. The particular day Carlie disappeared was NOT one of these occasions!
Please be vigilant and continue to look for Carlie, this creep Simpson, the van they are traveling in, anything suspicious or out of place could help bring this little girl home!

I've never met Gary Simpson myself, so no he didn't have me fooled.....
I live in Rogersville and I have been friends with Carlie's grandma for years. Simpson has never behaved in any way to alarm the parents.....
I am not here to be confrontational, only to bring awareness to the search for Carlie.

On Saturday, her pediatrician, Dr. Chris Calendine, told authorities that he will offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the safe recovery of the child.
