A man in New Jersey was arrested in connection with cyberstalking offenses with a Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) network known as 764.

NVEs often target vulnerable individuals, including minors, using social media platforms to share child sexual abuse material and gore material, and groom victims toward committing acts of violence.
Court documents from the Department of Justice show 21-year-old Marek Cherkaoui, of New Jersey, has a history of making online comments involving threats and advocating for and supporting violence.
He’s accused of using the internet to threaten a 13-year-old girl from Dec. 2024 through May 2025 and told her to cut herself.

“Time to start cutting yourself again. Punish yourself for being so fat,” Cherkaoui wrote in a series of posts. “Don’t ever stop cutting until you lose some weight.”
According to the documents, the teen cut her arms on two occasions after being threatened by Cherkaoui. She told authorities she was scared of Cherkaoui and “feared he would dox her.”

The complaint states the teen eventually decided to delete her online accounts. After she did, Cherkaoui is accused of doxing her by posting information about her family, residence and school, according to court documents.

The criminal complaint also states Cherkaoui had expressed support for mass shooters, solicited child sex abuse materials from minors and encouraged others to harm themselves and others.

Cherkaoui previously purchased books regarding the manufacture of explosives, body armor, zip ties, a trench coat, ski masks, and tactical gear, the document states.

FBI agents found writings in which Cherkaoui discussed and planned murder and terroristic acts, including a multi-step plan that involving joining ISIS and returning to the United States to commit acts of terrorism, according to the DOJ.
