A three-year-old boy was rushed to intensive care after he was placed on a hot stove by one of his parents.

The toddler, who is still in nappies and known to Child Safety officials, sustained horrific injuries in the incident last month.

Queensland police, who are believed to have regular contact with the Townsville parents of eight children, are investigating, the Courier Mail reports.

Child safety officers reportedly arranged a visit to the home before the injury.

However, they left when they realised the family was not at home and left a note saying they would come back.

Then, on March 27, the child sustained burns and was taken to hospital and put in intensive care with a temporary colostomy bag.

It is not known if the incident was accidental or not, but according to the Courier Mail, the parents are thought to have systemic and severe neglect and domestic violence problems.

The incident comes as the Federal Government intends to put pressure on state child protection departments to agree to a new statement of principles.

On the stove long enough to need a temporary colostomy, by accident. They're kidding me, right?

"the parents are thought to have systemic and severe neglect and domestic violence problems".
That sounds like this incident was a given! Seriously Australia? When are you going to stop giving passes? If these kids can't help themselves, it's your fucking job to step in!!:banghead:

Living in Townsville, domestic violence and child abuse, sounds like a minority problem. Because of the stolen generation, those children cannot be taken away. Otherwise, it is racism.

So true. Indigenous children are being raped, beaten daily and outright murdered regularly (at rates of 30 times that of non-indigenous children), because every-time the government cracks down, cries of "racism! Look, evil white people!" echo through the mainstream media. Politiciations, police, social workers and everyone else in a position of authority decide it isn't worth it and turn a blind eye. Well done you damn SJW's, how do you sleep at night?

The solution I believe is education of the current generations. Allow, them to learn to care for their own. Don't dampen their customs, or try to teach "our" ways, help them recover their own identity, and the ways that "worked". Help, do not give. Give them a hand up, and allow those that truly want to and prove they can to then teach the others.

Much the same in the US, and for that matter Canada as well. We Colonials all created lost generations. Clearly, it served no good purpose, regardless of intent.

That's exactly what they have been trying to do. The indigenous population are the most privileged here, in terms of opportunity. On any government form or employment application that you fill out the first question (after your name, address, tax info etc) is - Do you identify as Aboriginal or Torres strait islander? Indigenous people can obtain free housing, cars, education and greater social security payments than a non-indigenous persons in the same situation will get.

My step-father was a manager with the post office here (at a time when it was government owned). If somebody with an indigenous background applied for a job, they would get it. No questions asked. If he wanted to hire someone else he was summoned to his bosses to explain why he did not hire the indigenous applicant.

I'm not saying that any of this is wrong. Australian indigenous people were subject to one of the most complete genocides in human history, in fact they were entirely wiped out in Tasmania (the southernmost island state of Australia).
The fact is we have done everything we can to help. There is a health centre not far from me, where I cannot go for treatment because I am white, even though I live in an area where there are practically zero indigenous people. At some point they need to take responsibility for their own situation.
