3 Utah fathers accused of abusing crying 2-month-old children in separate cases

On Nov. 21, police were called to 29-year-old Hayden Norman Pierce’s home on a report of a 2-month-old girl who was not breathing.

“ Pierce made a statement to police that he had been frustrated with the infant crying and shook the infant with an aggressive shake/jerk on two occasions,” according to charging documents.

Doctors discovered a brain bleed on the infant, the charges state.

On Nov. 25, 29-year-old Daniel Cano Gutierrez’s 2-month-old son was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital with a fractured skull, a brain bleed, three fractured ribs and three leg fractures, according to charging documents.

Doctors determined the skull fracture happened on that day, and the rib and leg fractures occurred days to weeks earlier, the charges state.

Gutierrez later admitted to being frustrated by the child due to constant crying and fussing and to forcefully squeezing him, according to the charges.

In May, 20-year-old Noah Talsma Jr.’s 2-month-old son was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital and was determined to have rib fractures that were healing and new fractures to his leg, according to a police booking affidavit.

In an interview with police, Talsma admitted that he caused the injuries, the affidavit says.

“Noah stated he was frustrated. His son would not stop crying. Noah pulled the child’s leg and heard it pop, then freaked out. This occurred two days prior to taking the child to the clinic,” according to the affidavit.

Of course the wee one was crying! I Inconsolable You fractured his skull when you forcibly squeezed and shook him, you fractured his leg when you violently twisted it and you broke and fractured his ribs when crushed him! All of those injuries cause pain, these children need immediate medical care! They want the baby to cease its crying, so instead of trying the usual hunger, wet nappy, too cold or doing infant massage, warm bath or just make sure baby is safe and walk away! These people assault the wee one and hope they will be quiet? Sometimes it does work and they are forever quiet!
