18yr Kentucky Man Faces up 120yrs for Rape, Child Porn Charge

An 18-year-old man from Kentucky was charged with having indecent material involving a minor, according to authorities.

Alex Brautigan appeared by video from the Campbell County Detention Center at his arraignment in circuit court Monday.

He was arrested in March on a charge of raping someone who was incapable of consent or was physically helpless and held on a $100,000 bond.

Brautigan faces nine total felony charges, including the following:

• First-degree rape
• Second-degree strangulation
• Six counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor younger than 12
• A similar count involving a minor between the ages of 12 and 18.

Brautigan's public defender pleaded not guilty to the charges on his behalf. Discovery has begun on the case between the defense and prosecution.

WKRC reached out to the Newport Police Department for comment and more details, but did not hear back in time for this story. Campbell County Commonwealth Attorney Michelle Snodgrass declined comment on the case.
