suspected drunk driver allegedly struck a 13-year-old girl walking along the road in the middle of the night and continued on to a fast-food restaurant.
The teen was seriously injured, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say she was walking on the grass shoulder of U.S. 231 at 1:19 a.m. Thursday when she was struck.
A 26-year-old Leesburg, Ga. woman driving a black 2003 Ford Taurus south on U.S. 231 lost control of the car, drove onto the grass shoulder and struck the teen with the front right end of the car, according to FHP.
The driver sped away, continuing south until Bay County Sheriff's deputies found her at Taco Bell.
Troopers arrested the woman on charges of leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid, DUI involving serious bodily injury, a driving lanes violation and an open container/driver alcohol consumption violation.
The child was taken with serious injuries to an area hospital by Bay County EMS.

Troopers said the teenager was walking along the highway when the Georgia woman drove off the road, struck her and then continued on.
