A Long Island man was arrested on animal cruelty-related charges after police found nearly a dozen dogs living in their own feces with no access to food or water, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
SPCA detectives found 11 dogs inside the home on Nagle Lane in Central Islip. A spokesperson said seven pit bulls were confined in filthy crates, sitting in their own feces and urine, with no access to food or water. Some of the dogs were emaciated, and at least one had untreated open wounds.
Peter Watson, 55, was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty.
10 pit bulls, one beagle mix and one deceased pit bull were taken to an emergency animal hospital.
