Police in North Texas search for missing 10-year-old

1030_jasmen_gonzalez.jpg

Jasmen Gonzalez was last seen at about 11:45 Saturday night. She and her parents are from Oklahoma City and were visiting relatives in the 1300 block of Walnut Street, near the intersection of Belt Line Road and Interstate 35E.

Police said Jasmen might have wandered out of the house after going to bed. She is unfamiliar with the area.

FBI agents were going door-to-door speaking with residents, and every car attempting to enter the two-block radius around the Walnut Street address was being stopped.

"We want to know who is coming in and out," News 8 was told.

Police said they are also looking for a white Ford F-150 pickup truck with Texas license 33C-NZ9 as part of their investigation.

Jasmen is described as Hispanic, 4'-3" tall, 90 lbs. with long brown hair. She has a small mole on her upper lip. While she normally wears glasses, she left the house without them.

Oklahoma City girl reported missing in Texas; body found during search

Texas police are searching for an Oklahoma City girl whose family thinks she might have wandered away in her sleep while visiting relatives near Dallas.

Jon Stovall, spokesman for the Carrollton Police Department, said Jasmen Gonzalez, 10, went missing shortly before midnight Saturday in the 1300 block of Walnut Street in Carrollton, Texas. The city is about 23 miles north of Dallas.

Stovall said the girl was visiting relatives with her family and was supposed to be sleeping inside a residence at the Walnut Creek Apartments. He said the girl was gone when the family returned.

The Dallas Morning News reported Sunday evening on its website that police have found a body of a Hispanic female in the 1100 block of Clint Street in Carrollton.

It has not yet been announced whether the body had been identified as Jasmen.

Jasmen left her glasses, shoes and socks behind. She was last seen wearing a dark tank top and dark pants.

Police said she has a mole on her upper lip, weighs about 90 pounds and is 4-foot-3-inches tall.

Stovall said Jasmen is not familiar with the Dallas area. He said officers have been using helicopters and search dogs since Saturday night to try to find the girl.

Anyone with information about Jasmen should call the Carrollton police at (972) 466-3333.

Investigators found no signs of forcible entry at the apartment, and an initial police statement said Jasmen may have wandered away "during her sleep" and got lost. But shortly after the body of a Hispanic female was discovered in a backyard about two blocks away -- in the 1100 block of Clint Street -- Carrollton Lt. Doug Mitchell said the sleepwalking reports were false:

"We believe it is an abduction."

"Let's just say the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are questionable," Mitchell said. "We're not ruling anybody in or out."

Body of missing girl found near Carrollton apartment

CARROLLTON — Carrollton police late Sunday confirmed that the body of a Hispanic female found Sunday afternoon is 10-year-old Jasmen Gonzalez, who had been abducted from an apartment two blocks away late Saturday night.

Police said she had been kidnapped.

A man described as a "person of interest" was being interviewed by investigators on Sunday night. Police said he does know the Gonzalez family, but no arrests have been made.

"There was no trauma on the body. There is nobody in police custody at present," said Carrollton police spokesman Lt. Doug Mitchell at a 5:30 p.m. news conference.

Forensic investigators were scouring a 1999 Lincoln Navigator SUV parked outside the Carrollton police station. There was no confirmation that this activity was related to the homicide investigation.

Jasmen was last seen at about 11:45 Saturday night. She and her parents had traveled from Oklahoma City to visit relatives at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Walnut Street, near the intersection of Belt Line Road and Interstate 35E.

Lt. Mitchell said the girl's body was found at 3:35 p.m. Sunday outside a residence in the 1100 block of Clint Street, just two blocks away from the apartment where Jasmen disappeared. He said the investigation continues.

"The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are questionable," Mitchell added. "There's a lot of investigative work that has to be done. We'll take it one step at a time; we'll be very methodical in what we do; and we'll come to a resolution."

Police Intervew 'Person of Interest'

Gonzalez and her parents had come down to Carrollton from Oklahoma City to visit relatives. Police say the family was staying in an apartment on Walnut Street, and on Saturday about a dozen people attended a party there.

But Jasmen disappeared

On Monday, police revealed they were questioning a man who was at the party on Saturday, 23-year-old Jose Concepcion Sifuentes.

They have not yet named him as an official suspect. Sifuentes is being detained on an immigration hold.

How horrible for her family. You know, it makes me wonder if she ever actually made it to the apartment where she was supposed to be staying. Was she ever there, or was she killed and dropped off before they even got to the apartment where she was to stay? Who was in the apartment? Does anyone have a history of child molestation/abuse or kidnapping?

She wandered off "during her sleep?" That doesn't sound right.

I'd like to see more info on this one.

Officials say a 10-year-old Oklahoma City girl who police say was apparently abducted while visiting the Dallas area was stabbed to death.

The Dallas County medical examiner's office said Monday that Jasmen Gonzalez died of a stab wound to the chest. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Carrollton police are describing a family friend as a "person of interest." That person is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

UPDATE: Police say missing girl found in Carrollton was stabbed, sexually assaulted
Police are still investigating the death of 10-year-old Jasmen Gonzalez, who was abducted on Saturday while visiting relatives in Carrollton.

Gonzalez and her family were in town from Oklahoma City. On Oct. 29 at approximately 11:58 p.m., the Carrollton Police Department responded to the Walnut Street Apartments located at 1300 Walnut Street, regarding a report that Gonzalez had gone missing.

After an extensive search by multiple police departments, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, U.S. Marshall’s Service and civilian search groups, the body of Gonzalez was found on Sunday at approximately 3:35 p.m., in the 1100 block of Clint Street in Carrollton. The body was found behind a wall with a stab wound to the chest. Police also believe Gonzalez was sexually assaulted.

Police investigators have interviewed Jose Sifuentes, 23, as a person of interest; however, no arrests have been made at this time. Sifuentes is currently being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements because he is not a United States citizen.

Police said Sifuentes knew the Gonzalez family and was at a gathering in the apartment where Gonzalez went missing. They said Gonzalez was in the master bedroom and family members noticed that both she and Sifuentes went missing around the same time.

Carrollton Police Officer Doug Mitchell said police have run multiple search warrants at two residences and three vehicles, all located in Carrollton.

“One of the residences was at the home of where she was abducted and the other was the home Sifuentes,â€￾ he said. “The vehicles were a white Ford F-150, a red Chevy van and a black Lincoln Navigator. The Lincoln Navigator was a car that Sifuentes drove.â€￾

Mitchell said investigators are still in the process of interviewing people and the investigation is still ongoing.

Jasmen's picture looks so much like my own daughter, Same age, same brown eyes, same awkward smile... The idea that anyone could look at a girl that age and find her sexually attractive makes me want to vomit. I have been lurking this site for years, and this story made me question how many more of these stories can I handle.

To think of the fear she went through. Kill the prick

During a news conference, police explained more about the evidence and damaging testimony that led to the arrest of Sifuentes.

Police said they recovered the weapon, a bloody knife from his black Lincoln Navigator.

Sifuentes’ wife said she saw him drive back to their apartment right after Gonzalez went missing, according to police. Sifuentes could not explain where he was right after family members reported Gonzalez missing.

Police said Gonzalez was sound asleep in the master bedroom of her relatives' Carrollton apartment when Sifuentes, visiting during a family reunion, stabbed Gonzalez in the chest. Police said he exited through a door from the bedroom to the outside, where he then allegedly drove the young girl several blocks away, leaving her for dead in the bushes of a total stranger's home.

Grief-stricken family members arrived at police headquarters on Tuesday morning, not commenting on the news their own family friend and relative is charged with the murder of their loved one.

Police said Sifuentes has been living in Carrollton for the last month, but is not a legal citizen of this country. Police also said he has been deported in the past and has a criminal record, but not a violent one.

Just before 10 a.m., Carrollton police escorted their former "person of interest" to the Dallas County Jail. Sifuentes was dressed in an orange jumpsuit, handcuffed and clean shaven, but kept his head down as police drove away from the Carrollton Jail.

Sifuentes will remain at the Dallas County Jail charged with murder. When asked why not capital murder, police say they have only enough evidence to charge Sifuentes with murder at this time.

Sifuentes' common law wife is a cousin of the victim.

Wait, I am confused. He raped her at the family members home, then stabbed her then drove and left her for dead?

Police said they were confident Gonzalez was taken from the bedroom before she was killed, though they haven't revealed the location of a crime scene or a motive.

Relatives told police the man disappeared from a family gathering Saturday night and returned after about a half an hour.

Investigators say the girl had fallen asleep in a bedroom, during a party. One family member saw her in the bed sleeping. A half hour later she was gone. Jose Sifuentes is accused of abducting Jasmen after she fell asleep.

Prosecutors were set to make the case that Sifuentes, who was in the country illegally, abducted, sexually assaulted, and then stabbed and killed Jasmen. The 24-year-old was arrested after K-9 officers led police to his SUV. According to police reports, Jasmen’s blood, along with rubber gloves and a knife were also found inside the vehicle.

http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2013/02/25/jury-selection-for-accused-killer-of-10-year-old-in-carrollton/

A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty this morning to a murder charge in exchange for a life sentence in the2011 Carrollton slaying of a 10-year-old girl.

Prosecutors agreed to reduce a capital murder charge to murder as part of the plea agreement with Jose Sifuentes, who would never have been eligible for parole had a Dallas County jury convicted him of the more serious offense. He could now be eligible for parole after 30 years.

That's pretty fucking bold to steal a child when multiple family members are just feet away. This bastard has done it before.
