Beavis and Butt-Head are returning to TV.

Comedy Central announced Wednesday that the world’s favorite slacker teens are getting a reimagining at the cable network courtesy of original series creator Mike Judge. Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the show as part of a new animation deal with Judge and 3 Arts Entertainment. The deal also includes potential spin-offs and specials.

As with the original series, Judge is set to write, produce and provide the voices for both iconic characters.

“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” said Judge.

The series officially launched in 1993 on fellow ViacomCBS cable network MTV. It featured the titular duo offering satirical commentary on youth and adolescence. The show proved to be a cultural phenomenon, generating strong reactions both positive and negative.

FUCK YEAH!

The single season return to MTV years ago(shit was that like 2013 or 4?) was fucking gutbustingly hilarious. You can never replicate the usually low rent, junk music video scene of the 90s, but they surprisingly did a solid job adapting to mocking reality tv shows and the like.

Fucking criminal MTV didnt renew it back then after that return season. Always blew my mind that the likes of Comedy Central didnt pick it up then instead, seemed right up their alley.

I have all the faith in the world itll be stellar. Afterall, again, Judge already showed us once that he can do a comeback without losing ANY of the steam or edge or hilarity or brilliance of the show.

Seriously, some of the best news ive heard in some time, year at least prob.

the (not so great) remake

You must have gotten it mixed up with something else. That was a brilliant, glorious, gutbusting return to form.

Now if only he would bring back King of the Hill!

Nah it had a fitting conclusion. That finale episode was a perfect way to end it, no huge moments, nothing in your face, very much in line and tone with the show on the whole, and we see Bobby and Hank finally bond over something they both individually love....and it's meat! Not quite propane/grilling, but damn close.

Fox surprisingly didnt fuck them over, or perhaps Judge just planned for it just in case.

I really dont see where else they could go with the show, especially seeing how the last 4 or so seasons were frequently junk and featured some god awful writing where it was clear the writers didnt even understand the characters or their core values/motivations or even were familiar with earlier, classic, integral eps and story arcs. Just garbo way too frequently. It needed to end, they were runing out of ideas and respect.
