This is from February 2024.

The 13 pit bulls, 8 of which were puppies, that were removed from the home were euthanized.

My opinion is that these dogs were not well socialized or taken care of when it came to feeding, giving their bodies time to heal from pregnancies or being loved like a family pet should be.

Thirteen pit bulls have been euthanized after a dog breeder was fatally mauled at his Compton home, authorities say.

The 35-year-old man, identified by the coroner's office as Dominic Cooper, was found dead at his home last week with multiple injuries to his upper and lower body.

Cooper had 13 pit bulls - five adults and eight puppies - at the home and it is believed he was feeding them at the time of the attack. A preliminary investigation indicated the dogs may have first started fighting among themselves during feeding time and Cooper was attacked when he tried to intervene.

"All dogs were euthanized due to evidence linking them to the attack," a spokesman for county animal control said. "Given the potential threat they posed to the community, this action was deemed necessary."

Anyone who wishes to breed pit bulls should be required to have a license (a very costly one at that) and subject to random exceptions from the county or city they reside in.

Also if you live in close proximity to neighbors it should be outright forbidden to own that many dogs for breeding purposes.

The man who died after a pit bull attack at his home suffered a slow and painful final few minutes of life after getting mauled by his own canines ... this according to officials.
The autopsy report for Dominic Cooper is in -- and per the L.A. County Medical Examiner's Office ... the man ended up dying as a result of blood loss and physical exhaustion, which the M.E. notes was directly related to the injuries he sustained in the mauling.
According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Cooper's pit bulls turned on him one evening at around 7 PM ... with multiple dogs starting to bite him, which they say lasted 5-6 minutes.

Once Cooper was able to finally get away from the dogs, he secured himself in an empty kennel ... but in the end, that's where he died and where his body was found the next day.

The M.E. notes all of this was captured on surveillance video taken at the home ... and they say once he was in the kennel, he appeared incredibly lethargic -- although they do say he continued to move around for another 12 to 13 minutes before he finally went still.

FOX 11 Sky also captured footage of the scene. It is believed it was the victim's girlfriend who called 911 to report the incident. "We cannot show you what we discovered in that backyard, but apparently there are two homes out here that are breeding pit bulls," said a FOX 11 reporter from a helicopter above the scene. "When I say there is a number of them, I mean a large number of pit bulls out here. And sad to say, we did see one person not moving and very bloody in the backyard as well."

According to a press release from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC), the eight puppies taken into custody are 4 to 6 months old. The father of the victim is cooperating and has signed over the 13 pit bulls to DACC. "Preliminary information suggests that the deceased individual was involved in breeding and selling pit bulls. DACC continues to work diligently to gather additional details surrounding the circumstances of this tragedy," states the release.

These dogs had a horrible life, whether it was intended or not!

It is sad this man lost his life. He was a father of three daughters.

He may not have been malicious but there is no way one person can care and give 13 dogs the love and care they need to be happy and well adjusted.

I am sorry this man lost his life, and I am so sorry his kids lost their dad and in such an AWFUL painful way.

I am also sorry for those dogs, I am sorry for the life they were born and breed into and sorry that they lost their lives because of it.

All of it is a horrible sad mess

Why did he need 13 dogs? Why keep them all together in a kennel? Isn't that creating a "Pack?" With pack mentality comes pack consequences.
