4 years old with pressure sores down to her bones....dead for days.

'Harrowing details have emerged after the body of a little girl with Down Syndrome was found in a Brisbane home on Monday.'

Sorry I am having trouble copying the text but it's absolutely horrific.

An intellectually disabled girl was found decomposed in her cot with horrific sores on her body after being starved and left to die by her Kiwi father, Australian police allege.

Four-year-old Willow was found dead in the bedroom of a Brisbane property on Monday morning, with painful sores so deep the bones on her hips were exposed, police say. She had been dead for at least two days.

Her father, New Zealander Mark James Dunn, 43, has been charged with the girl's murder after he allegedly told officers he found Willow dead in her room on Saturday, but did not get medical help, even after discovering her face had been attacked by rats.

According to the Australian, Dunn allegedly asking paramedics who arrived at his house: "I'm in trouble, aren't I?"

Dunn previously shared pictures online where he can be seen holding a smiling baby with Down syndrome, and another child.

But three years later, he allegedly left her to die at a Cannon Hill home on or about Saturday May 23, court documents allege. Forensic investigators are working to determine whether the child could have been dead for days longer as she had the appearance of being malnourished.

Her stepmother, who lived at the house with her own children, has not been charged in relation to Willow's death. It is understood Willow's biological mother died after complications during birth.

The Courier-Mail understands those living at the house believed the child was unwell before her death. Neighbours spoken to by the Courier-Mail had never seen the young girl at the home.

Child Safety Minister Di Farmer yesterday did not answer questions about whether the family were known to the Department of Child Safety.

Dunn was charged under the new extended definition of murder, which includes reckless indifference to human life.

It is one of the first charges to be brought under the State Government's new tough penalties for child-killers, introduced last year.

Under the new laws, the vulnerability of the victim can also be considered during sentencing.

Some of people who neglect animals to death are like, borderline mentally retarded. I've personally seen this. I wonder if this is like that.

It would be better if authorities would be more careful about leaving special-needs anything with parents who may be to some extent special needs themselves. But entitled shitheads would bitch about some sort of discrimination - HES THE FATHER AFTER ALL HE HAS 'RIGHTS' - so I guess that won't happen for a while at least in many places. Ideally the child's right to safety should supersede the supposed right of a stupid parent to proceed without any welfare checks on the child.

A four-year-old girl who suffered from 'terrible neglect' was so severely malnourished an expert found she stopped growing eight months before her death, a court has heard.
Willow Dunn's stepmother Shannon Leigh White and father Mark James Dunn have been committed to stand trial for the child's murder.

But White applied for bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday arguing the case for reckless murder was weak and the trial would not be held for some time.
Justice David Boddice disagreed, refusing White's application as the 45-year-old sat in the dock wiping away tears.
Willow, who had Down syndrome, was found dead in a house at Cannon Hill, Brisbane on May 25 last year, but is believed to have died about two days before.

Barrister Paula Morreau conceded there appeared to be a strong manslaughter case against White.

But told the court the 'significantly large case' meant the trial might be held in 12 months and White had already been behind bars for two years.

Justice Boddice said he did not accept that preliminary work would take so long.

'I don't think you have to worry that she's served too much time even on the manslaughter on the basis of what is terrible neglect,' he told Ms Morreau.

'The allegation is months and months of neglect supported by the extreme lack of weight of the child at death.'

Justice Boddice said it was alleged White - a mother of seven - committed reckless murder by depriving Willow of food and the necessities of life for some time so that she was significantly underweight and suffering "obvious signs of extended neglect" when she died.

Expert evidence suggested Willow was half of what would be the lowest acceptable weight for her age, had stopped growing about eight months before her death and that her severe malnutrition would have been obvious.

Justice Boddice refused bail, finding White had a compelling reason to flee Queensland as she faced a mandatory life sentence if convicted of murder and her children live outside the state.

Why isn't the stepmother being charged with anything? She was there and that baby had to have been crying all day, every day, hungry and thirsty and in, off the scale, pain. Yet she doesn't get charges. why not?
At some point they stop crying. They don't have the energy to.
That's what I've been told at least, and it makes sense I think.

Wonder when dad moved this bitch into the house..
had stopped growing about eight months before her death

A baby doesn't have to be your own for you to be able to care for them. Just how can you absolutely know there's a baby in your house who's not being fed, not being cared for at all, and not do anything at all about it.

I was at the park several days this week and saw a little escape artist, about 2, take off running from his mom, all I had to do was step out in front of him to stop him from running into the road and give his mother time to get to him. The woman in this case couldn't even throw this baby a biscuit, she needs to go away forever. Dad is not getting a pass either, He needs to go forever too.

What bothers me is the fucker doesn't think he did anything wrong. In his mind, he disposed of a defective item, and it sickens me. Down's babies/kids are the cutest, most beautiful souls on this earth. I hope Australia puts them in for life, never to be released.

From 2020

At the time, no one knew that Willow's stepmother would one day stand accused of the little girl’s murder.
A day after Shannon Leigh White was charged with the murder of four-year-old Willow Dunn, it’s been revealed that she initially gushed over the baby on social media.

White, who was best friends with Willow’s mum Naomi for two decades, posted on Facebook to celebrate, The Courier-Mail reported.

“My best mates baby willow such a beautiful sole can't wait to meet her,” she said in post,” she posted.
“So adorable Naomi u done a amazing job with such a roller coaster pregnancy ur such a great mum an a awesome friend love u babe.”

Naomi responded to the post, writing: “Awwww you’re making me cry. Love you lots.”

Just a few weeks after White made the post, Naomi died from complications from the birth.

A short time later, White started a relationship with Willow’s dad, Mark Dunn.

It’s alleged that White, who lived with Dunn and Willow and her own kids, refused to care for Willow.

White reportedly said that she didn’t look after Willow because she was not her biological child.
When Willow was found dead at their home in Cannon Hill last week, White told police that she didn’t anything to do with the girl, The Courier Mailreported.

Mark Dunn was immediately charged with murder after it has been alleged that killed Willow on Saturday and was left in her bed.
The 43-year-old has been accused of failing to seek medical help in the girl’s death. White has now also been charged over Willow’s death.
The little girl was allegedly left to starve in a filthy bed in a bedroom.

A post-mortem examination revealed Willow was “experiencing serious malnourishment, along with many other health concerns that supported sustained mistreatment”.

The Courier-Mail reported that Willow had horrific sores on her body that exposed her hip bones.

Disturbingly, neighbours of the Dunn family told the newspaper that they hadn’t known that Willow had lived in the home.

A father accused of leaving his four-year-old daughter to starve to death never recovered from his wife dying while giving birth to her.

But his dick did.

A monster convicted of starving and abandoning her four-year-old stepdaughter in a case of "gross" neglect could be eligible for parole in just two years for her manslaughter.

Willow Dunn's emaciated body was discovered by emergency services at her Brisbane home in May 2020, about two days after she died.
The court heard Willow, who had Down syndrome, weighed just 6.5 kilograms — about half of what would be the lowest acceptable weight for her age — and had deep pressure sores and a severe lice infestation.

In August this year, Shannon Leigh White pleaded guilty to Willow's manslaughter as well as cruelty to a second child.
Today at the Supreme Court in Brisbane, White was sentenced to nine-and-a-half-years for manslaughter and two years for the second charge, to be served concurrently.

The 47-year-old has been in custody for more than four years and will be eligible to apply for parole in June 2026.
Defence barrister Paula Morreau read out an apology from White to Willow's family, who attended court via video link.

"She accepts she failed in her duty to the children, particularly to Willow," Ms Morreau said.
"She says she is so sorry to you … and so sorry for causing them harm."
