An upstate New York judge has been forced to resign after she was accused of impersonating her daughter in a call to police...

Linda Becker, one of two elected judges serving the Tompkins County town of Newfield, was investigated for a complaint that she called a county assistant district attorney and left a voicemail message as her daughter, according to records from the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

In the message, she requested the criminal charges — in a case where her daughter was the complaining witness — be upgraded from harassment to assault.

In an interview, Becker said that problems arose after one of her daughters walked in on a domestic violence situation involving her other daughter. . .

I see this as a no-no, but a firing offense? Eh, I impersonate people all the time (I do the calling in my family when discussions need to be had with stores, restaurants, the cable company ect.). Should I be worried? :nailbiting:

You should be fine, unless you're cancelling purchases without permission or something.
I think the issue here is the judge interfered with a criminal case by lying and trying to get charges upgraded when she had no right to.

When I answer the phone at my mom's when I'm there, people either think I'm my mom or my sister, because we all sound so much alike, lol

I hate, hate, HATE talking on the phone to the point that I have a serious aversion to it. Your family members are fortunate to have you as their telephonic proxy!

You ought to hear what I do to telephone solicitors sometime. Let's put it this way, my wife loves handing the phone to me and she does it with an evil grin on her face.
I do voice impersonations, and I do a "Sling Blade" that goes on for about a minute before I ask the idiot on the other end of the line if they'd like to be my "Special Friend."

Good Times!

My favorite was “ I am not here to make you smarter madam” She’s gangster with her burns
She really is! I’m glad I never had to go in front of her. I think she’d make me cry!

I happen to like, "They don't keep me in this job because I'm 5'10" and gorgeous. They keep me because I'm SMART!"
Yes, that’s another good one! And I love it when she throws some unfortunate person out of the courtroom. ;)

Elected!!

Shocked the shit out of me too!
So, of course, I took a closer look...

Sparsely populated counties sometimes don't have doctor's nearby that want the position.

I had no idea that was possible, did he have training before or did he receive it after? Or is it like an online course you get someone else to take for you?

My deceased ex-husband's step brother in law is our coroner, But he, at least, had the benefit of being a paramedic first. He attended my mother's death. He is a really nice guy who I did go to school with, he was already almost completely bald in the 10th grade. His wife, the step sister is a nurse and one of their two sons is also a paramedic. A medical family.

That really is the bare minimum requirement haha!
Apparently there is a job opening!

The qualifications have increased, and again, this is only California

$134,885 is not to shabby for an on-call, take-a-peek position.
