Wagoner County deputies arrested a couple following the death of their 3-year-old adopted daughter.

Deputies and Broken Arrow firefighters responded to a home Nov. 6 because of an unresponsive 3-year-old girl, Faith.

When medics arrived, Faith didn't have a pulse. She died on the way to the hospital.

"For someone to harm a helpless 3-year-old child, it infuriates me," said Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott.

An autopsy revealed the child had severe injuries, consistent with child abuse from the day before her death.

After interviewing 25-year-old Glen and Kelsey Seaman, deputies learned the couple had fostered at least five children for several months.

They had adopted Faith in December 2018 but had cared for her since April 2018.

There were two other children in the home at the time of Faith's death. Deputies took the children into protective custody.

Investigators and the Wagoner County District Attorney's Office said they are convinced Faith died from child abuse she suffered Nov. 5.

“This is such a sad case for everyone involved. These are the types of heart-breaking cases that haunt even the toughest of law enforcement officers. One of the most tragic aspects of this case is that this precious 3-year-old was adopted out of a bad situation into the possibility of a brighter future. Instead, her life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. Our focus now is to keep Faith in our thoughts as we pursue justice on her behalf,” Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott said in a news release.

Kelsey Seaman was arrested Friday morning and is facing multiple charges, including murder and child abuse.

Glen Seaman surrendered at the sheriff's office. He is facing charges of child neglect, enabling child neglect, and obstructing a peace officer.

The other children in the home were under the age of two.

I have a disgusting feeling that they are going to say the parents were overwhelmed and that due to Faith's past trauma she was a difficult child.

The defense attorney will say they had good intentions but were incapable of meeting this traumatized child's needs.

Could the death of 3-year-old Faith Seaman have been prevented?

As Kelsey Seaman sits in a jail cell charged with first-degree murder in the death of her adopted daughter, the biological mother of Faith is speaking out.

The Franklin family says they intend to file a lawsuit against the Department of Human Services, and as for the punishment, they'd like it to be severe.

"I think that they should get the death penalty for what they did to her," said Chasity Franklin, Faith's biological mother.

The last time Chasity saw her daughter was about a year ago.

"She always hugged me; she always kissed me," she said.

Faith, named Faithful originally, had been taken from her, she says, due to her struggles with drugs, but at no time was she ever abused.

"She was never abused. She was never abused. Her mother made bad decisions, and that's what got her taken away from me," she said.

While Chasity worked on addressing her drug issues, her father, Edward, says he tried to get custody and agreed to DHS's requirement that he take parenting classes.

"You know, had to go every Saturday for 12 hours, pass the classes, and every time they would come up with some reason why she couldn't come in the home with me," he said.

When he found out Faithful had been adopted, he was heartbroken but tried his best to look at the Seaman family as a bright future for his granddaughter.

"And I'm out bragging on these people. I'm bragging on this couple telling people that my granddaughter's with a nice family. The lady, she's a school teacher; she's going to be a smart young lady one day, and now this, and then they kill her," he said.

Last week, they visited Faithful at Floral Haven cemetery. Heartbreaking enough, if not for the terrible irony of what Edward says he was told by DHS during the time period in which he was trying to get custody of her.

"The reason why they told me that I couldn't take on my granddaughter because I was a diabetic. They said that I probably wouldn't live long enough to even raise my grandkids. That's what they told me. That's what they used to keep her from coming in the home with me. They said, 'You probably wouldn't even live long enough.' I said, 'Well, who made you all God All Mighty to tell me how long I'm going to live?'" he said.

A family broken by loss but bolstered by memories and a renewed sense of purpose.

"But she will have justice. She will get justice for this," said Chasity

I doubt the bio-family will get any money since the rights of the mother and the father were terminated.

I am a reluctant to speak on bio-grandfather because it seems like he might be confused between parenting classes and MAPP training to be a foster parent.

Kelsey Seaman received a 40-year sentence 9actaully 25) for her adoptive three-year-old daughter's death.
Prosecutors said Seaman and her husband Glen adopted Faith in 2018, after fostering her for eight months.

Kelsey Seaman was originally charged with murder, but she pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter for the little girl's death.
