So here's the message from my friend. Couldn't copy and paste on my phone.
"It was the same uncle that was in jail that night on shoplifting charges...so, apparently the story leaked before wasn't accurate. He was out in time to kidnap the girl...however, what I'm not understanding is how he took the girl with her sister as witness and then the restof the family in the home waited until 1:30am to report her missing and they have been refusing to let police into their house. The police finally got a warrant this morning to go in...I believe they are still questioning the mother regarding her involvement...seems like she could be involved if she has been so uncooperative and didn't even bother calling the police right away. "

Well, shit. Who.erased his Facebook?
Anyway, there are 2 pages for him. DO NOT CLICK VIDEO! It contains a virus.

Thing is, no cop tells a person they've been cleared. He likely thought he got away when they let him go home.

I live here. This is tragic beyond belief.

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) — An 8-year-old girl reported missing from her Arizona home was strangled, authorities said Friday as they continued to investigate the case.

The Mohave County medical examiner released the manner of death for Isabella "Bella" Grogan-Cannella on Friday. The cause of death was asphyxiation.

Police found Isabella's body in a shallow grave near her Bullhead City home Wednesday, a day after her family reported her missing.

Isabella was discovered wearing the same green, ruffled, sparkly tank top she had on when she was last seen. However, authorities said she didn't have any clothing on her lower half and they are looking into whether she was the victim of sexual assault.

Justin Rector, a 26-year-old Bullhead City man with a lengthy criminal history, was charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder in her death. Authorities described him as a family friend who was staying at Isabella's home at the time she disappeared. He is being held without bond.

[...]

Diamondback Elementary School Principal Martin Muecke told the Mohave Daily News that Isabella paid close attention to detail when crafting sentences. Her second-grade teacher, Kaycee Larson, said Isabella's favorite subjects were English, language arts and writing.

[...]

Police said they aren't ruling out additional charges or arrests in their investigation into Isabella's disappearance and death.

According to court records, Isabella's mother wasn't home when her daughter went missing. The mother, Tania Grogan, and her boyfriend, Ralph Folster, were at Wal-Mart. Grogan told Isabella and her 10-year-old sister to lie down in bed and watch a movie. Folster's mother was home with the children, according to court records.

[...]

Bullhead City Police Chief Brian Williamson said Thursday that the state Department of Child Safety is involved but did not elaborate. Grogan told KPNX-TV that her 10-year-old daughter was in state custody. Department of Child Safety spokeswoman Jennifer Bowser-Richards confirmed that but could provide no other information on the case.

@Chaindrive, how close are you?
My friend lives one street over. She's very upset and feels she has no one to talk to. I've told her to dump all her emotions on me, but she still is distraught. Her child is just a year older than Bella.

So he's actually of no relation to the girl, he is just called her "uncle"?

No judgments, having no siblings I have good friends who have their children refer to me as their Aunt, I'm just trying to understand the players in this.

Actually, I have heard of people doing this. I've called myself Aunt to some of my friends kids.

Curious if anyone has heard anymore on Isabella? Maybe Valasca?

So confusing... wonder if parents were helping to cover it up with him instead of Walmart? It doesn't seem like enough time for 1 person to take her from home, do whatever he did, and then bury her in a shallow grave etc... all before 1:30am. Unless it was just enough time, then Mom called. Just so mad this loser was able to live there also, who knows what all she suffered.

Birds of a feather, flock together.... poor girl, being born into some kind of fucked up family with frinds like this who they allowed to be around their daughter!

RIP Isabella, I have always loved your name.

Not yet. I am giving friend space. She's very distraught. And today being what it is, well... I'm not hitting her up today.

Ok so the meth killed the little girl, not this guy. I'm glad that was cleared up.

I'm thinking "Walmart" is code for drug run. Who goes shopping after midnight?

I've done it.

There are times when the PTSD keeps me awake and I can't sleep that I get hungry for junk food. (I have real food in the apartment, but there are times I want the grease and salt and empty calories.) The only choices of locations to get that tasty crap at that hour are the gas station, the local grocery, or Wally World.

Gas Station == $$$
Grocery == $$
Wal*Mart == $

I buy my groceries at Walmart. You can't beat those prices. I'm not even ashamed.

Cameras barred from arraignment: County attorney has 60 days to decide on death penalty in girl’s slaying
A Superior Court judge banned the use of cameras in his courtroom for today’s arraignment of a Bullhead City man charged with the murder of an 8-year-old girl.

Justin James Rector, 26, is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, child abuse and abandonment of a dead body. He is charged with the murder of Isabella Grogan-Cannella...

Surrounded by almost a dozen corrections officers, Rector made his first appearance Thursday in Superior Court in a hearing whether to allow cameras in court.

Deputy Mohave County Attorney Greg McPhillips and Chief Public Defender Harry Moore both opposed allowing cameras in the courtroom. Moore argued that the intense media coverage from television cameras would make it harder to find an impartial jury.

Two Las Vegas television reporters, speaking by phone, argued that cameras would not hurt in picking an impartial jury pool. One reporter asked if a single pool camera could be used.

Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen denied allowing cameras in his courtroom for today’s hearing only. The judge said he had a negative experience in the past when cameras were allowed in court. The judge also set a hearing Sept. 30 to allow television stations or any media to submit evidence to allow cameras at Rector’s future hearings.

Rector is expected to be arraigned on the charges today before Jantzen. Inmates are normally arraigned at the jail on Fridays before Superior Court Commissioner Ken Gregory. However, because of Rector’s high-profile case, his arraignment was moved to Jantzen’s courtroom.

A defendant convicted of first-degree murder faces a minimum of life in prison with or without parole after 35 years. The kidnapping and child abuse charges are punishable by 10 to 24 years in prison. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Greg McPhillips has 60 days from today to decide whether to seek the death penalty against Rector. That decision won’t be made until lab results are back. Mohave County does not have any other defendants facing capital murder.

I want cameras in that courtroom for the trial- I want to watch this monster squirm as they sentence him to the death penalty!

I also found an interview with Bella's mother:
JzeSLrI.jpg

In part she says that Justin Rector was related to Bella- not an uncle, but a "cousin by marriage". She also talks about how much she trusted Justin, she says she allowed Justin to "crash with them" because she trusted him "with her life". She goes on to complain that she is being "harrassed" by people from "all around the world" who think that she may have had something to do with Bella's murder. She also confirms that CPS has placed her other daughter with her grandma.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a cousin by marriage? Does that mean her Aunt or Uncle married a person who already had a child or children and therefore he is a "cousin by marriage"?

There's a couple different ways to acquire cousins by marriage. I have a shit ton of them because my grandmother remarried a man with several children, and all his children had children. But your scenario works as well.

I'm glad the other daughter was removed from the home. The mother might not be a bad person, but she needs to get her shit straight before children are allowed back into her care.

You know, I'm not sure how that works? I would think that the easiest way for someone to to be a 'cousin by marriage' is if they were the spouse of your cousin-- but since this guy wasn't married, then I'm thinking he might be the stepson of an aunt or uncle-- or even more confusing, he could be the child of an aunt or uncle's brother-in-law or sister-in-law???:wacky:

Like I'm imagining in my own family, my kids have a 'cousin' who's really the cousin of their cousin, I guess that could be considered a cousin-by-marriage?
(I'll use names to make it less confusing, maybe!)
My sister-in-law Tricia has a son Anthony, Anthony & my kids are cousins
Tricia's sister Meg has a son Danny, Danny & Anthony are cousins
So the relation between Danny & my kids would be....cousin my marriage(?)

Ok, now my brain hurts & I probably didn't clear up this confusion, maybe made it worse!:sorry:

Nice to see that they're mourning the tragic murder of their child! :sarcasm:

So, was the guy in police custody for the charges the night of the murder before, or after he killed that poor little girl?? Trying to keep it all straight.
