Authorities set up surveillance of the truck and on July 28, Ryan approached the truck with the keys in his hand, the complaint said.
Ryan told authorities he had known Cavett since around January 2019 and said she was coming to Florida to sell him her truck, the complaint said. He said he paid her $3,000 for the truck.
Video from the gas station shows Ryan’s car leaving the gas station around 8:15 a.m. that morning and returning at 8:38 a.m., which is about the time the child was found.

A man has been arrested in the case of missing mom Leila Cavett
A man who was questioned in the case of the missing mom Leila Cavett is sitting in a Broward jail on the charge of lying to federal officers.
Shanon Ryan, 38, was arrested by federal agents on Saturday, according to court records. He’s currently being held in the Broward jail without bond.
Cavett, 21, was last seen on July 25 after traveling from Georgia to Fort Lauderdale. Her 2-year-old son Kamdyn was found wandering the streets alone in Miramar the following day.
The case has grown into a full-blown FBI investigation, with investigators examining surveillance footage and cellphone tower data to retrace her steps, in addition to police using bloodhounds for searches.
A spokesman for the FBI did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Marshals Service said Sunday that agency was not involved in Ryan’s arrest.
Ryan’s recent Facebook activity includes a number of posts discussing the case in vague and sometimes mysterious ways. Many of the posts allude to witchcraft and new age spirituality, but some address the FBI and their apparent investigation into Cavett and Ryan’s alleged connection to her.
On Aug. 6, Ryan posted two photos, apparently of police officers or federal agents in plainclothes searching a silver Lexus sedan. In one of the photos, a truck, matching the description of Cavett’s vehicle provided by Hollywood Police, is seen in the background with a door open.
On social media he says he has been questioned by police who don’t have anything to go on.
In some cases, he seems to be goading the FBI, telling agents — and anyone else who seems to think he has something to do with Cavetts’s disappearance — where they can find him.
“If you think I am guilty, come get me,” he said in the Facebook Live post on Aug. 13. “Know what energy you are playing with.”
A week earlier, Ryan claimed to be in Tennessee and on his way back to Florida when he posted a 51-minute video on YouTube. In the video he claims he took Cavett into his home when he was living in Alabama. He described her as a young woman with risky behavior who played men and used her son as a shield from them. He said it was common for her to go off with strangers.
Ryan said he and Cavett reconnected recently when she decided to come to Florida to assist him as his apprentice was hospitalized. He said when she arrived they smoked some weed, went to The Cheesecake Factory and then drove around. He said a car pulled up and someone in the vehicle asked her if she partied. He said Cavett left with the people in the car.
In the video, Ryan appears very animated. At times he rocks back forth. Other times he flails his arms. On occasion he punctuated each word very vividly.
He says he knows the FBI is investigating him. “I know they are trying to make a connection of me to her,” he says. “… You are going to find you wasted your mother [expletive deleted] time when you could have been looking for her. "
Ryan then attempts to hold many people to task including Cavette’s family and an army of followers on social media who have joined Facebook groups in an attempt to help find the missing mom.
He questioned how Cavett could really be missing when she was largely considered homeless and why people didn’t want to help her then.
“You don’t see the work I do every day,” he said. “You don’t see the energy I put in. "
In the same video, Ryan says he is being made to look guilty by others on social media because of his past criminal history. Court records show he was convicted of a 2012 burglary in Alabama. He also said in the video that he sold drugs when he was younger.
Ryan’s Facebook profile lists him as the owner and founder of Magnetic Kundalini, a business described on its page as “witchcraft, knowledge of self, kemetic kundalini and chakra meditation, kemetic science, health, wellness, fitness, mentorship.”

Hopefully they are able to make the charges stick and what happened to this young mother will be known.Investigators said Ryan had been using a debit card to buy extra-strength odor eliminator, extra-large garbage bags and duct tape at the gas station and a Walmart store, court document show.
A federal search warrant executed on Ryan’s phone shows that he had made various Google searches, including
“What day does commercial garbage pickup for Hollywood, Florida?” and “Does bleach and alcohol make chloroform?”
Law enforcement also recovered shovels with small droplets of a red substance on them. The complaint also said several employee at the gas station were interviewed by investigators. One recognized Ryan, and had seen him near the trash bin. Another employee remembered seeing women’s clothing and children’s toys in the trash and recognized a pair of floral pants worn by Cavett, the complaint said.
In video footage obtained by law enforcement, Ryan was spotted parking his vehicle near the trash bin on July 26.
In a rambling 51-minute video posted on Facebook Aug. 9, a man who appears to be Ryan says he was the last person to see Cavett, adding that he had helped her at a time she was homeless.
“We have a missing woman, and I gave the police everything that I know,” he says in the video.
Hopefully they are able to make the charges stick and what happened to this young mother will be known.

... investigators recovered written conversations on Ryan’s phone, revealing exchanges between Cavett and Ryan about her becoming an apprentice, though they found nothing indicating she was going to sell her truck.

hm so he really was planning this stuff, now wasn't he!The debit card was in one of his other 'apprentices' name. Also, if I remember correctly, he had this same apprentice's phone along with his own phone.

Investigators scoured a landfill in south Florida for clues in the disappearance of a missing Georgia mother who was last seen in July, FBI officials said.
Agents from the FBI’s field office in Miami on Thursday searched the Monarch Hill Landfill in Pompano Beach as part of its probe into the disappearance of Leila Cavett, a mother from Dawsonsville, Georgia, who was last seen on July 25 in Hollywood, Florida.
“The FBI continues to actively pursue every lead related to this investigation,” FBI Miami spokesman Jim Marshall said in a statement to The Post. “We are still seeking information about Leila Cavett’s disappearance.”
The statement did not indicate what led FBI investigators to the landfill more than two months after Cavett disappeared. Her 2-year-old son, Kamdyn, was found the following day wandering alone in an apartment complex parking lot in Miramar, about two miles away.
A self-proclaimed witch has been charged with murder in the case of missing Georgia mom Leila Cavett, nearly 10 months after she vanished in Florida and her toddler was found wandering alone, authorities said.
Shanon Demar Ryan, a 40-year-old who refers to himself as “the witch” and a “master of the occult arts” on his Facebook page, was charged with second-degree murder in the disappearance of Leila Cavett, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Cavett, 21, was last seen near Ryan’s gold Lexus at a gas station in Hollywood, Florida, on July 25 — and her 2-year-old son was found the next day, wandering by himself barefoot outside an apartment complex in Miramar, about two miles away, authorities said.
Ryan told authorities the last time he saw Cavett and the toddler was when they took off in a black car at the gas station to go party with a group of men, the newspaper reported.
But surveillance video did not corroborate his claims, police said.
The day after her disappearance, Ryan went to a Walmart and purchased carpet deodorant, trash bags and duct tape, authorities said.
He later returned to the gas station where Cavett was last seen with a bottle of bleach, the newspaper reported.
Surveillance footage showed that Ryan went back and forth at the gas station from Cavett’s parked truck to the dumpster and a trash can, where he threw out women’s clothing and toys, the newspaper reported.
Detectives also searched his phone and found that he had searched how to make chloroform and when trash gets picked up in the town, cops said.
Ryan has been detained since August on child neglect charges that stem from Cavett’s 2-year-old son being abandoned in Miramar on July 26.
He has also been charged with kidnapping with the intent to collect a ransom and lying to a federal officer, the newspaper reported.
