Looks like the 'father' isn't all that innocent in this.

A grand jury has indicted a Jerome man in the October murder of a Twin Falls baby.

Joshua Eric Molina, 33, is charged with murder in the first degree and four counts of injury to a child in the death of 20-month-old Lyryk Altom. He was arrested March 27 and indicted May 23.

Molina was the boyfriend of Amanda Dunlap, Lyryk’s mother. Dunlap was arrested shortly after Lyryk’s death last year on charges of first-degree murder, eight felony counts of injury to a child and one misdemeanor count of injury to a child.

At the time of Lyryk’s death, Molina told police he was not really involved in the medical care of the baby, a claim that Dunlap initially agreed with.

However, later police interviews with Dunlap and a review of text messages on her phone revealed that she had previously lied to law enforcement about Molina’s relationship with Lyryk. Photos and texts suggest that Molina may have physically abused the infant over a period of several months.

Molina wouldn’t let Dunlap take Lyryk to see a doctor after she had a seizure on Oct. 8, Dunlap told police in an interview. She said Molina had been blowing marijuana into Lyryk’s face to alleviate the symptoms of her seizures, and he was afraid that his son would be taken away from him if Lyryk tested positive for marijuana. A friend picked Dunlap and Lyryk up later that day and took them to the emergency room instead.

Amanda Dunlap, 23, faces eight counts of felony injury to a child, one count of misdemeanor injury to a child, and one count of murder in the first degree. She was charged shortly after the October death of her infant daughter, Lyryk Altom

Dunlap took Lyryk to the St. Luke’s Magic Valley emergency room with bleeding in her brain on Oct. 8, 2017. The baby was flown to Boise, where she died six days later.

A doctor at St. Luke’s told police he believed her head injuries were caused by non-accidental blunt force trauma, according to court documents. Doctors also found bruises and scratches while examining the baby, as well as several broken bones and a lacerated liver.

Dunlap decided in late June to waive her right to a preliminary hearing. She was arraigned in district court Monday.

Her boyfriend at the time of Lyryk’s death, Joshua Molina, was arrested in March after Dunlap told police she had previously lied about his involvement.

Photos and text messages reviewed by police suggest that Molina may have physically abused the baby over a period of several months leading up to her death, according to court documents.

Dunlap told police that Molina wouldn’t let her take Lyryk to see a doctor after she had a seizure on Oct. 8. She said Molina had been blowing marijuana in the baby’s face to alleviate the symptoms of her seizures and he was afraid of the legal consequences if police found out.

Court documents show that Dunlap faces one count of felony injury to a child for “refusing or failing to provide or to seek emergency medical care” for Lyryk.

OMG could this story be more fucked up. This poor baby, everyone and anyone who came in contact with her failed her, goddammit.
Today at work my boss had to call DCF on a "mom" and we were all in tears because of what we witnessed. It was nothing compared to what this baby obviously went through, but our hearts broke. Why couldn't someone do something for little Lyryk...
I'm so sad I can't think of any punishment suitable enough for this POS. I hope she and her DOTM never ever have any peace of mind for as long as they have a breath left in them. May they suffer endless mental and physical anguish and may Lyryk's little face haunt them forever. RIP little angel.

The trial for a man charged with multiple felonies in the death of his girlfriend’s baby has been moved to 2020.

Joshua Molina, 35, is charged with first-degree murder and four counts of injury to a child in the death of 20-month-old Lyryk Altom in October 2017.

Lyryk was taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center with bleeding in her brain on Oct. 8, 2017, and then was flown to a Boise hospital, where she died six days later. A doctor at St. Luke’s told police he believed her head injuries were caused by non-accidental blunt force trauma.

Molina remains in custody at the Twin Falls County Jail.

The girl’s mother, Amanda Dunlap, is also charged with murder and multiple counts of felony injury to a child.

A woman charged with murder in the death of her child will be allowed to attend the baby’s funeral.

Amanda Dunlap, 24, faces eight counts of felony injury to a child, one count of misdemeanor injury to a child, and one count of murder in the first degree. She was charged shortly after the October 2017 death of her 20-month-old daughter, Lyryk Altom, from serious injuries.

Dunlap’s public defender, Marilyn Paul, filed a motion requesting Dunlap be released to attend Lyryk’s funeral on Saturday. She will be allowed to wear street clothes and will be supervised by Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office personnel throughout her release, according to the order signed by Fifth District Judge Roger B. Harris on Wednesday.

Lyryk was mistreated in life and disrespected in death.

A jury has found a Twin Falls man guilty of two counts of felony injury to a child, but was unable to come to a verdict on a charge of first-degree murder and two other counts of felony child injury.

Joshua Molina, 35, was on trial in the abuse and death of Lyryk Altom, the 20-month-old daughter of his then-girlfriend, Amanda Dunlap.

Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs told the court he wants to re-try the three charges the jury did not find a verdict on.

“I think we put on a good case,” Loebs said. “There are always improvements to make.”

“The problem is going to be finding a date with the court calendar so full,” Loebs said. “We will, but it will be at the convenience of the court calendar and all the other trials that are scheduled.”

Dunlap has also been charged with nine counts of injury to a child — eight felonies and one misdemeanor — and first-degree murder in the toddler’s death.

A status conference in her case is set for March 16.

Dunlap and Lyryk moved into Molina’s home in August 2017.

Lyryk was taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center with bleeding in her brain on Oct. 8, 2017. A doctor at St. Luke’s told police he believed her head injuries were caused by non-accidental blunt force trauma. She was flown to a Boise hospital, where she died six days later.

No one saw who delivered the killing blow to the little girl. But Dunlap and another roommate told police they were in Molina’s living room when Molina came out of a bedroom carrying Lyryk’s “limp but contorted body,” Loebs told the jury Friday in his closing arguments.

Court documents said photos, text messages, and police interviews with Dunlap suggest Molina had physically abused the baby repeatedly in the months leading up to her death, and that he told Dunlap not to bring her daughter to a doctor.

I've been absent for a while and decided to come online today. One of my sister's-in-law was asking me about this site and then my daughter-in-law wanted me to search for Lyryk. Turns out that Lyryk's bio-dad is the DIL's cousin. He was trying to get his life straightened out and was in rehab with all of this happened. He's the one who is in the pictures with her on the previous page. All this happened while he was away This incident has destroyed him and he is destroying his life with drugs and alcohol. These stories hurt a lot more people then you imagine.

Hung jury after 3 days and Molina will not be sentenced until his re-trial and Amanda Dunlap will not go to trial until Molina is through with his trial..

Joshua Molina, of Jerome was found guilty on June 8 of first-degree murder and four counts of injury to a child.
The charges were related to the death of his girlfriend's daughter, 20-month-old Lyryk Jean Altom, in 2017.

Molina was charged in 2020 for the crimes. After two weeks in court, the jury found him guilty of injury to a child, but they could not come to a decision on the rest of the charges. The case resulted in a hung jury.
The child's mother, Amanda Dunlap, was arrested in October 2017 and faces charges of first degree murder and multiple injury to a child charges. Dunlap's case is still pending.

@GoneWest

Joshua Molina learned his fate in a Twin Falls courtroom.

He had been found guilty back in June of first-degree murder, and four counts of injury to a child, in connection with the death of a child in 2017.

On the four counts of injury to a child he was sentenced to 30 years and six months.

On the charge of murder in the first-degree, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The judge granted him the maximum sentence on every single charge.

Those pictures....I have no words. Seems these "parents" spend more time thinking of "unique" names to give their child than actually CARING for the child. I hope these assholes live short, miserable lives where they are in pain and frightened constantly. I hope every time they start to feel safe some prisoner beats them within an inch of their lives.

HijabiGirl , I’m with you! These people should never again have access to any children! So brutal, I do hope they are treated poorly in prison! They certainly deserve it! Those photos, brutal, anyone that saw them not think that’s outrageous !
