But I do feel one would get a nasty reaction from twerking
I read that too fast and thought it said "one would get a nasty erection from twerking."
and I thought, well that's not wrong...

But, fuck this dude. Who made him the Patriot Police? If you want to say something to the kid, have at it - but there is no reason to lay hands on him, or anyone, in this situation.

I can't really understand from the replies here if some of you were joking or serious. Did someone make it a law that you had to take your hat off for the pledge? Or stand? I don't see the kid as being disrespectful just for standing or sitting there. Please enlighten me.

I've always been taught that it's respectful to remove your hat during the National Anthem. It's a sign of respect.

That said, I've never been one to give much of a shit about respecting inanimate objects. I don't think that a gesture like removing your hat for a song means much of anything. I respect my country no matter what I'm wearing, whether it be a cowboy hat or a mankini. Symbolism has never meant all that much to me.

However, even if you're a dyed-in-the-wool patriot who gets all hot in the pants over the flag, that's no reason to beat the shit out of anyone, much less a kid who just probably forgot, for something like this. This dude is a primo douchebag and an obvious danger to society.

Reminds me of a douchebag roommate I once had. Fucker still lives in Alabama after flunking out of college.

I have no issues removing my hat once inside. A stint in the Army makes that habitual.

Dude... for fuck sake I'm tired of this "I did what Trump said" No you fucking idiot, you are a complete douchebag loser that fucking attacked a kid. I didn't see Mr. Orange standing next to you saying "Kick that kids ass"

Stupid fucking excuse that is getting old

If you're forced to capitulate to a song, are you really free? I can't understand why so many people refuse to comprehend and respect the basic foundation and principles of our Constitution.
This a hundred times.
Young me didn't do the whole hand-over-heart thing for the pledge or stand for the national anthem. I wasnt a disruptive edgelord about it, mind you. I did it because I could and saw it as my own form of respect for the ideals behind those things. I explained that nicely whenever asked or confronted over it and usually got blank stares for my trouble. Dunno why it was so darn difficult for people to understand that ideals and ceremony aren't the same thing. We didn't refuse to bow to a king in order to force everyone to capitulate to a song or a piece of cloth.

Nope. I am not at all surprised that some people are more offended by a hat than a child being assaulted by a grown man. The irony that he was assaulted for exercising his freedom is entirely lost on the people offended by a fucking hat.

AND if dump truck had half naked chicks twerking to the National Anthem at one his rallies? They would LOVE IT.

But baby Jesus forbid someone not take their hat off?

No one has the right to touch anyone else period let alone a kid. If someone even did a fraction of what this asshole did to any of mine he’d have a problem with me. Immediately! I don’t care what this guys issue was or what he thought was the right thing to do but it is certainly not to fracture the skull of another person let alone a child! He’s going to break his own kid. What a violent piece of shit.

We changed the etiquette rules to exclude ones we thought were dumb, upset our parents, they were disgusted with our generation...our parents changed the etiquette rules to exclude ones they thought were dumb, upset their parents, their parents were disgusted with their generation...on and on. I don't understand how we look at our parents and shrug our shoulders at their expectations of respect, no big deal if we don't do that, we laugh at etiquette classes...but these kids nowadays better be respectful and show it just like me...not more respectful, that would be dumb who could remember all those rules, but do it different than me! How dare they.

"...pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of assault on a minor."

"Judge John Larson reinstated Brockway's probationary supervision from a previous conviction, meaning Brockway must stay at home with a GPS monitor -- with the exceptions of visits with doctors and his attorney, and court appearances -- and regularly check in with a probation officer.

Brockway, 39, is next scheduled to appear for a court hearing on October 23."

"...pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of assault on a minor."

His attorney "...said Brockway expressed remorse the child was hurt.
"He told me 'I guess I messed up because he got hurt. But I'm a patriot,'"

That doesn't sound remorseful to me. He's remorseful for himself being caught and is justifying it with bullshit about being a patriot. He's the type of asshole who would never apologize to the kid or the family. Belongs behind bars, given his previous arrest when he "...had taken out a gun and threatened to shoot three people during a traffic dispute on a narrow road in Mineral County in September 2010, according to court documents." Lock him up, he's a danger to society!
