A Macon man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teen girl.
The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office said 23-year-old Adrian Garcia-Zamarroon plead guilty to kidnapping a 16-year-old girl on August 24, 2018.
Garcia-Zamarroon then drove the victim south on I-75 and sexually assaulted her at a home in Macon.
Prosecutors had evidence showing that Garcia-Zamarroon knew his victim. On the day of the attack, he went to a business in Newnan where she and her family worked, stabbed four people with a knife, and drove off with the girl.
The teen's family called 911 and officers started looking for Garcia-Zamarroon's vehicle, which ran out of gas in Monroe County. Still armed with a knife, Garcia-Zamarroon walked the girl to a home that was still being constructed.
The DA's office said the two spent the night in the uninhabited home, where Garcia-Zamarroon raped the girl and threatened to kill her.
Authorities later found Garcia-Zamarroon's car on I-75, then saw them walking on Rivoli Rd. on August 25. Garcia-Zamarroon was then arrested.
The DA's office said Garcia-Zamarroon is still facing charges in Coweta County as well as charges filed by the U.S. District Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
After Garcia-Zamarroon is released from prison, he will have to abide by the sex offender terms of probation for the rest of his life. The DA's office said he could also face deportation after completing his prison sentence because of his immigration status.
