A woman in Wisconsin was arrested for leaving her three small children alone in a car in freezing temperatures while she went shopping in Kmart.

Ashley Pirlot, 26, asked the 6-year-old girl to watch her sisters because she couldn't fit all three in a shopping cart and didn't want to deal with seat belting the kids in a cart.

Police found the kids inside her car in the parking lot with the outside temperature being 35 degrees , USA Today reported.

A 6-year-old, 17-month-old and 6-month-old - all girls - were found in the car.

Once the mother was confronted by police, she told them that her own mother had been arrested once for leaving her in a car while she watched a football game.

Surveillance video confirmed Pirlot was in the store for about 17 minutes before police showed up.

The two youngest children were wearing dirty diapers and they weren’t properly covered for the cold weather, police said.

Officers bought the younger children diapers. They also gave them food and water — especially after the oldest girl said they hadn’t eaten in a while.

According to the criminal complaint, the 17-month-old girl was found in a booster seat wearing a pajama onesie partially unzipped in outside temperatures of 35 degrees.

The 6-month-old girl was in an infant carrier with a blanket though her bare feet were sticking out from the blanket and a plastic bag that was within reach posed a choking hazard.

Cudahy officers noticed the younger children's diapers were dirty.

Well, hell, that changes everything! You're free to go, ma'am.

I’m sure she’s a dipshit but I wonder if Ashley’s other option was to leave the kids home with the DOTM and maybe this was the better choice. It just seems like a lot of these young mothers are really on their own— their own parents probably still work full time while the baby daddies are unemployed or working for minimum wage. It takes a village but they don’t have one.

Prosecutors dropped charges filed against a South Milwaukee mother on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after the court found she complied with a deferred prosecution agreement.

Ashley Pirlot, 27, had faced two child neglect charges — two felonies and a misdemeanor. All three counts were dismissed by prosecutors, and a February plea hearing was vacated.
According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the Kmart in Cudahy on Nov. 16, 2018, where two women at the store told a dispatcher they were parked next to a car that had three children inside. The women indicated there were no adults around and the car was not running.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the 6-month-old, 1-year-old, and 6-year-old. Officers noticed the vehicle with the children was unlocked and the temperature outside at the time was 35 degrees — not factoring in the wind chill.

"...the court found she complied with a deferred prosecution agreement."

Wonder what exactly that was?

"...Pirlot told officers “that her mother had been arrested for leaving Pirlot and her sister in a vehicle while she watched the Packers game when Pirlot was a baby and her sister was young.”

Oh, ok then. She was simply carrying on a family tradition. No biggie.
