A man who lit himself on fire outside the United States Supreme Court Building has died, according to reports.

Wynn Bruce, 50, of Boulder, Colorado, died Saturday, a day after he set himself ablaze in Washington, D.C., the Metropolitan Police Department told Fox News. The incident happened around 6:30 p.m., and Bruce was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

A spokeswoman for the Supreme Court said on Friday that Bruce’s death was “not a public safety issue.”

That is one heck of an exit.
Likely thought he was making a grand statement that everyone would understand.
Yet he will likely go down as nothing in history just another crazy person who killed themselves publicly.
No one will understand why or for that matter even care.
So safe to say plan backfires.

Article states he was a Buddhist, but apparently his motive is unknown which kind off defeats the purpose of a public self-immolation.

Was it for something important like Thích Quảng Đức's protest in June, 1963?

"In June of 1963, in a busy street in Saigon, Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc burned himself to death as a protest to the South Vietnamese Diem regime’s discriminatory Buddhist laws. He hope to show that to fight all form of oppression, a sacrifice must be made."

" Those who witnessed mentioned that whilst Duc was burning, he never flinched nor moved a muscle. For 10 minutes he sat in a meditating posture burning until he collapsed, conforming to the authorities, and most of the people present that he had passed away."

I just doubt this was for a loftier purpose for the benefit of mankind and the encouragement of good.

Sounds like a suicide to inconvenience and upset as many people as possible.
Not an altruistic sacrifice.
A selfish act all around.
