A tourist had her tongue cut out before she was stabbed to death by her Tinder lover in Mauritius, according to reports.

Zaliya Shamigulova, 29, from Russia, was last seen alive on August 17 near her rental flat and was reported missing by a female friend.

She was found naked, buried in a shallow grave with Russian media reporting an IT engineer, aged 29, from Mauritius confessed to killing her. The pair reportedly met on the dating app Tinder.
A post-mortem examination revealed the university lecturer had been stabbed in the chest and had her tongue cut out.

The 29-year-old local man allegedly “confessed” to her killing and explained how he had stabbed and mutilated the tourist, according to law enforcement sources.

A police report said: “He said he was deeply in love with 29-year-old Zaliya Shamigulova and [claimed he] was planning to marry her."

An IT engineer from Mauritius called Puryavirsingh Sundur, also 29, has been detained after reportedly confessing to her murder.
They suspect the killer had intended to cut up her body but instead buried it in a makeshift grave.

Sundur and Ms Shamigulova met on Tinder, according to Russian reports.

One report said Sundur ‘went to take the Russian woman sightseeing on the island, but in a fit of jealous rage, he pulled out a knife and brutally killed his lover before stripping her and burying her body.’

I spent two+/- idyllic weeks in Mauritius when we lived in SA. It was about a week after I got out of the hospital after having the measles. And Stepdad couldn't come. It was heaven. I don't want to believe that anything bad could ever happen there. Then reality sets in. Sucks this awful thing happened in such an unbelievably beautiful spot. Especially since Mauritius abolished the DP in 1995... :(
