"A Virginia woman has been charged with murder in the December 2018 death of her 19-year-old daughter, authorities said.

Officials reported Friday that a Fluvanna County grand jury has indicted 49-year-old Suzanne Mirsky of Scottsville on charges of murder, four counts of felony child abuse and two counts of animal cruelty. Mirsky was arrested on Monday.

Investigators said Kayla Mirsky died while in the care of her mother, but they have not released details of her death. The child abuse charges are related to other children, according to authorities."

A Scottsville woman charged earlier this year in the 2018 death of her daughter was sentenced to a term of 16 years.
Suzanne Ruth Mirsky, 50, was charged in February with second-degree murder in the death of her 19-year-old daughter, Kayla. She also faced multiple counts of child abuse and animal cruelty. She pleaded to the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of child abuse on June 22.
Kayla Mirsky was found dead at the family’s Scottsville home on December 12, 2018. At the time, Suzanne Mirsky said that Kayla, who was autistic, must have left the house in the middle of the night and become disoriented. The death was initially ruled accidental.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Jeff Haislip said in an email that investigators suspected foul play from the start, and members from the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, social services, Virginia State Police, and his office met periodically over the next year to try to piece together a picture of the Mirsky family.

Mirsky’s two minor children were eventually removed from the home. “After some time in foster care, the children began to describe the abuse they had all suffered at the hands of their mother, and what happened the night Kayla died,” said Haislip.
At the sentencing hearing, the children, now 14 and 17, testified to their own abuse, and said that Kalya often bore the brunt of the violence.

They told the court that on the night of her death, Mirsky forced Kayla to stand in the corner as punishment. When Kayla began to fall asleep and could no longer stand on her feet, her mother pushed her out of the house out and into the cold. She was found unresponsive in the yard the next morning.
Mirsky’s therapist testified that her client suffered from borderline personality disorder, a condition often marked by poor judgement, emotional instability, and lack of impulse control.

That looks like a linebacker dude in a wig! Must have been insanely jealous of the pretty young 19-year-old daughter...
When Kayla was still around everyone loved her. She had a very bright personality and was kind to every person she came across. Graduated from high school with a 3.6.2 GPA and was in the BETA club. She had aspirations of being a massage therapist so she could help people. My mom disliked her for several reasons, the biggest one being the fact that she was autistic. She couldn’t stand the way Kayla did things, and thought about things. If Kayla went to school and talked to people or made friends, my mom would find out through teachers, then abuse Kayla for it. Once Kayla graduated, my mom was essentially tired of her, as all she did at that point was “bring in a check”, despite the fact that her being on disability was the sole reason we still had a house to live in. Once Kayla graduated, my mom never took her out, she would stand for days and hours on end, and learned how to sleep standing up. Our mother would make me stand for long hours at a time as well, but not to the same extent as Kayla. She would be forced to stand anywhere from a couple hours, to several days, sometimes weeks. She didn’t care about Kayla. Now that she was essentially trapped in the house, my mom used that as an opportunity to be the center of attention.
