William Robert Lee Jr. was suspected of shaking his son on Nov. 16, 2024, after he noticed the baby was having seizures and was cold to the touch. He was caring for the baby alone while his wife left for the morning, says the CA’s office.
Lee took the baby to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) that day around 3 p.m., where doctors diagnosed the baby as having intercranial hemorrhaging and a broken leg, says the Norfolk CA. Doctors further determined the symptoms would have began to occur around the time Lee was alone with the baby.
A forensic nurse conducted a child abuse consultation by both observing the baby and reviewing his medical records while the baby was at CHKD. In her findings, the nurse described the baby’s hemorrhaging as having been the result of “rotational, acceleration/deceleration forces to the brain” and the leg injury “the result of forceful pulling and twisting.”
