Jamal Simmons, a former aide to Vice President Harris, called for President Biden to resign so that the vice president can have his role for a short amount of time.

“Joe Biden’s been a phenomenal president, he’s lived up to so many of the promises he’s made. There’s one promise left that he could fulfill, being a transitional figure,” Simmons said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on a panel featuring anchor Dana Bash, in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

“He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris president of the United States,” he continued, drawing shocked reactions from others.

I would only consider such a construct acceptable or legitimate if, God forbid and I would not wish this, Biden died in the next 2ish months.

But at this point, Jamal Simmons sounds very desperate to "help" Kamala be the "first female president". That'll really show those MAGA people who bought all that 45/47 merchandise. So there!

Really, all that would happen is that Harris's entire term of 2ish or fewer months would be a lame duck presidency that does not have enough time to do anything seriously productive; and, perhaps more relevantly, the MAGA crowd would simply shift to buying 45/48 merch without missing a beat.

What an extremely weak idea from a politically fragile person. On top of that, Simmons is trying to expect Prezzy Biden to, with no personal benefit to him and nothing in return, be even more of a pushover than he already has been throughout both this administration and this election; all for the sake of tokenizing American history. Tokenizing American history, that is, more than the Democrat party already has in the past decade-plus.

If he was going to resign, he should have done it when he dropped out of the race. That would have given Harris a few months to show people what she could do, and made her the incumbent.
