According to a Thursday afternoon press release from the Front Royal Police Department, at approximately 2:40 p.m. Wednesday units from the department responded following a report of a 1-year-old child in cardiac arrest.
Upon their arrival, medics from Warren County Fire and Rescue were already on the scene and preparing to transport the child to Warren Memorial Hospital.
Officers immediately secured the residence, and the Front Royal Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the incident. Despite medical efforts, the child was pronounced deceased at Warren Memorial Hospital, where detectives continued their investigation, according to the press release.
The child’s father, 24-year-old Nathaniel Lee Edmonds, was located by deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and brought in for an interview at the Front Royal Police Department, according to the press release.
